Thank you all so much, your kind words and prayers mean so much. I was able to speak to my sister last night and she said mom was a little confused (I imagine from the stress), dad had his surgery on Friday, not Thursday, which is more comforting to me because I couldn't understand why it was taking him two days to come out of the anistesia (sp?) and open his eyes. He should be in his own room today and my mom will call me with his phone number this afternoon, maybe once I get to speak to him I will feel better.

And no, Carl, you have the wrong Debbi.

Debbi {{{HUGS}}} I'm sure it's very difficult being so far away. Know that your Dad in in my prayers for a speedy recovery.

Dad was moved out of ICU Sunday afternoon and I was finally able to speak to him. Speaking to him lifted a huge weight from my shoulders, it was nice to know for myself he was ok. He has a long recovery and still forgets things (I am blaming that on the anethesia and drugs) but for the most part he is well. They have him walking the halls and later today they are going to try the stairs. He really isn't eating, but that could just be the hospital food, last night all he ate was ice cream....why they were giving a person who just had a quadruple bypass ice cream is beyond me, but that is all he ate from his tray. If all goes well he should go home tomorrow. Mom is tired and showing signs of stress, she is not used to being the one in charge, plus the anxiety of the surgery, plus it is a 1.5 hour drive each way to the hospital, she is exhausted. My sisters said she is looking into a home health nurse which is good because she will really need the assistance.

Thanks again for all of your kind words, prayers, PM's and emails, I greatly appreciate each and every one of you.

Debbi, I just saw this thread about your Dad, I'm glad to hear he's doing well and that you got to talk to him yourself. Both of my parents have been through the same thing. I'll be praying for your Dad. {{{{HUGS}}}}!

Hi Debbi,
I was in icu for 4 days after my bypass surgery and I am 42. So that is normal. They gave me ice cream too and I asked why? They want you to eat anything for the first month is what they told me. I had no desire for food for 3 weeks. The scariest part for me was these weird dreams I had in the hospital, they told me that it was normal to not know where I was for the first 5 days or so. I would be fine one moment and then next I thought I was wandering around on a railroad track lol. They said that was normal with all the morphine. I will keep your dad in my prayers!!
