Prayers being said for your nephew. We're an old pro at this open heart stuff...lol. DD15 had her first open heart surgery at 7 months of age, and her second was just last March.

Please, please, if there's anything I can do or general questions I can answer, please do not hesitate letting me know!!! I know it is a scary situation, but you'll be amazed at how quickly children rebound from open heart surgery. DD15 was out of the hospital in 4 days, back to school in 8 days, and tumbling in cheerleading in 6 weeks. Kids are soooo amazing!!!

Again, please feel free to drop me a line or forward this message on to nephew's parents, I'll talk to anyone anytime!

Thanks everyone

Mason went into surgery at 9 this morning and they expect it to last 6-8 hours. Sitting here waiting is driving me crazy! I am just hanging out on the Dis trying to keep my mind off of it but it isn't helping. Dh is at the hospital right now and he should be home soon so I can go. DD has the stomach flu so we didn't want to leave her with a babysitter.
I went to see him last night and he looked much better than the last time I saw him. His color looked good and he was not as sedated. My SIL has not left the hospital since he was admitted on Saturday so I brought her up some new clothes and gave her a break for a while.
I will post an update when I hear something.

We too have been through the open heart surgery when our son was 3 months old. But, boy what a difference in his health afterwards!!! Best wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery!!

Bumping & hoping for an update! Any news?

Masons surgery went pretty well. They did the surgery to repair a restricted artery and hole in his heart. When they got in there they found 4 holes instead of 1. They were able to repair the artery and fix 3 of the 4 holes. They were unable to close the incision in his chest because of swelling. They plan to close it on Sunday or Monday. He is heavily sedated because of his chest still being open but he has been moving his arms and legs a bit and opened his eyes for a few seconds when my MIL was singing to him. His heart and lungs are working on their own which is a very good sign.

Thank you for all the prayes and good wishes. They are appreciated very much.
