Hi folks -

I'd appreciate a prayer for my good friend. Her SIL delivered a baby at 26 weeks this morning - he's only 1 lb 12 oz. The doctors are as optimistic as they can be in this situation, but he's so tiny. He & his parents really need our prayers & good thoughts. If you have a moment today to think about Baby O the family would really appreciate it.

my neighbor and the little boy that I took care of from the time he was five months old was just the same weight......he is one very smart kid and tall now too.....he is just 10 years old......miracles do happen and the technology and doctors work now....amazing.
Prayers going out too

 Sending prayers and good thoughts to your friend's family. Prayers for that precious tiny baby.

Lots of prayers, my DD was born at 28 weeks by one day and is now , at 12 years old, practically perfect in every way (Mary Poppins). Being early doesn't mean problems are a given so :grouphug:, tell them to hang in there. It is hard to be optimistic in the neonatal intensive care unit but some babies are just fine, tiny but fine.

My DD was born almost 15 years ago at 24 weeks at 1 pound 5 ozs. Today she is a thriving sassy teenager. You would not know her birth situation at all unless you happen to see a couple of scars she has from the ordeal.
The preemies are notoriously famous for being unpredictable so tehy should expect quite the roller coaster.
The hospital DD was born at had a dedicated Psychologist just for the NICU and she gave me the best idea. she had me keep a daily journal the entire 4 months DD was in the NICU. I am so glad I did. It helped at the time and now when she is being a teenager :scared1: I re-read it and remember how far she has come and I say another prayer of thanks.
I will absolutely pray for this baby and his family starting a journey so many of us here know well.

Another preemie story for you here. I have a granddaughter that was born at 26 weeks and was 1 lb 13 oz. She is now 18 and has just graduated from high school. Babies are tough and doctors know a lot more than they use to. They have to tell you what could happen in case it does, but that doesn't mean it will. Prayers for baby O.

I agree! I kept a daily (sometimes wrote it in multiple times a day) journal when DS was in the NICU. It really helped me keep my thoughts organized. And then, when in the middle of the night you are wondering "what did the dr say they are looking for with the next feed/med/rounds", you can go back and look what you wrote down.

Roller coaster is the best way to describe what it is.

God bless them!

Praying for sweet Baby O that the baby will thrive and do wonderfully and that the Lord will comfort the parents as they worry about their child.

I know a strapping 24yo who's a paramedic and in med school. He was born at 25 weeks and just over a pound. I remember the day he came home from the hospital and his 3yo brother looked in the bassinette and said, 'what IS that?' LOL! Those two boys are so close now. Miracles DO happen, I'll send my prayers up.

My nephew was born at 28 weeks but due to problems with the placenta he was small (around 1 lb).

He is now 2 1/4 years old. He does have some medical conditions but most are things he will grow out of. His intelligence was not impaired and I refer to him as the evil genius. He keeps my sister and brother in law on their toes.

The first few weeks seem to be the toughest and my thoughts and prayers are with baby O.

Thoughts and prayers for the baby and family.

My baby was born at 35 weeks. I know that's not as bad as others have posted, but I was scared we would lose her. I had a fever during delivery and they didn't tell me that they were concerned about that. So when she was born, they didn't even let me see her. I got to hold her one time before they sent her to the NICU at Brenners Childrens Hospital.

Sorry to blabber.

I will pray for the baby to make a quick and health recovery.

Ask the drs about kangaroo care, if no one has mentioned it.

God's Blessings and lots of prayers being said for precious Baby O, his parents, family, medical team and care givers. :grouphug:

Sending prayers.

I too am the mother of a preemie. My 15yr old was born at 26 weeks and weighed 1lb 15.5 oz. He now enjoys the fact that he towers over me and can eat me out of house and home.

sending good thoughts their way- that is a tough situation. best of luck

Sending lots of good thoughts out for the newborn and family. :grouphug: The stories that others have shared so far are heartwarming. Looking forward to an update.
