Prayers and Pixie Dust Needed... - UPDATED 9/05

Wish - I really can sympathize - my heart goes out to you..

Go ahead and get yourself a second opinion - it's for piece of mind. You want all the information you can get your hands on.

And I had the same problem with the doctors not being very sympathetic. Know what you want, present a united front with your husband to the doctors and stick to your guns.

Hold on to your husband and pray - and know you are not alone - Big Hugs!

Sometimes doctors give you the worst-case-scenario just so you can brace yourselves.
Don't give up on little Micheal yet!
Try to stay optimistic, I know it's hard.
Doctors are often the most surprised by how things, against all odds, work out afterall.
My thoughts will be with you and your family.
Keep us posted.

Michael and his parents are in my thoughts. I also agree with the above posters and recommend receiving steroid shots (itsa series of 2 given 24 hours apart). I also think that may you should seek the opinion of a perineonatologist(high risk specialist). good luck and I am praying for a miracle,
Tara

My throughts and prayers are with all of you.

Keeping good thoughts and saying prayers for Michael, you and your husband!

:grouphug: Hugs!! My thoughts and prayers are with you, DH, and baby Michael.

Thank you everyone for all of your hugs, pixie dust, and prayers... we really appreciate it.

Just an update -

We went to the OB on Friday (8/20) for our 'heartbeat check' and Michael's heartbeat was a strong 148 - which is a very good sign. They also explained to us further exactly what is going on --

We apparently misunderstood the perinatologist when he told us that there was a kidney problem with Michael. Apparently, the problem is a result of a "reverse end-diastolic umbilical cord." Basically, what's happening is that the nutrients that should be sent to Michael through the placenta and umbilical cord is not being sent to him - it's being sent to my body instead. They don't know why and it is something very unusal.

I've been put on baby aspirin and am drinking LOTS and LOTS of fluids. I am now 25 weeks along and we have another OB appointment for this Thursday for another heartbeat check. I know Michael's okay now because he's been moving around like crazy today. It is so comforting to know he's still alive in there.

We have another ultrasound scheduled for September 1st - at that point, as long as Michael's still alive and kicking - I'll be put in the hospital on bedrest and will be given the steroids.

We are planning on pushing the steroid issue at our appointment this Thursday, though. We want the most chances for survival as we can.

Again, thank you all for your hugs, prayers, and pixie dust. It really means a lot to us. :)

Thanks for the update. You will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers!

:) That's good news about Michael's heartbeat! Keep good thoughts and we'll all be praying!

I was concerned when you hadn't posted in a while. I am glad that you and baby Michael are okay!

I am glad that you are planning on asking about the steriod shots. As soon as they realized that dd now 3 was going to be a preemie I got the shots. I was about 28 or 30 weeks. I don't know if you have to be at a certain week to get them. All I know is that dd was breathing on her own from the start without assistance. The shots are meant to speed up the lung development.

Keep us posted! I will continue to pray for everyone especially baby Michael!:grouphug:

 for you all. My prayers are with little Michael and his parents who obviously love him so much already. I do believe in miracles, and I will keep you in my prayers.

I'm so glad to hear baby Michael is doing OK. I will continue saying lots of prayers for him.

You are still in our prayers. Hope all is going good.

I did not see this post when it was written. I was so happy to see your update. I just want to send all my prayers that Michael will continue to be ok. I can not even imagine what you and your DH are going through. I wish there was more I could say.
