My youngest (Luke) has been seriously sick for 6 days now. He's had a high fever (104.5) since last Thursday night. He's been into the Dr.s office twice now. Today they sent him for chest x-rays to rule out pneumonia...they came back negative.

The poor guy literally can only stay awake 3 maybe 4 hours tops during the day. He's so listless. They checked his ears, his sinuses, and everything seems fine.

If he doesn't seem any better in the next day or so - they want to admit him in the hospital to run some tests and make sure he's hydrated well. He does seem to want to drink - just hasn't eaten anything since last Thursday.

I miss my hyper on the go little boy :sad1:

Has he been vomiting in the past few weeks? DD got so sick with Appendicitis that I always worry it is that. Does he get doubled over with pain every so often? That was the telltale sign with DD, right before it burst!

I hope you find out soon what is going on. Maybe just a nasty flu or something.

Nope - no vomiting. Just this high fever, lethargy, and really bad chest congestion.

Poor Luke! Did they test him for the flu? Sounds like it could possibly be that. I hope he feels better soon.

I just said a prayer sweetie....ya'll will be in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

It is probably not appendicitis, but I just worry about that so much.

Did he ever said his tummy felt funny or anything? DD said that for weeks before her appendix blew. DD was vomiting when her bowels were shutting down. Make sure they get a good feel of his abdomen.

I am super sensitive, you don't want to know how close I came to losing DD. It was the ER's sheer incompetence that actually saved her. They thought she had three completely different things and wanted the children's hospital to monitor her intake of antibiotics because they thought she had a UTI, blockage of her bowels (yeah, they were shutting down) and a bad xray looked like Pneumonia. I have an incompetent doc and xray tech to thank for my DD being here. They felt her abdomen at the children's hospital and it was instantly recognizable.

If you check his abdomen and it is hard as a rock, check out the possibility of appendicitis. My DD was saying it hurt in her belly button, and she was five, so she could not accurately report that it was her right side. That was the night before her appendix ruptured. By then she had acute pain only the night before.

Like i said, probably not it, but it sure shocked me how bad that whole situation is.

:grouphug: Prayer said. Hope he's all better soon.

Prayers said. They are so pitiful when they are so sick. One more thing--go with your gut. If you think this is more serious than your Dr. is treating it to be take hime to the ER or to a diff doc for a 2nd opinion. When my DD was 1 she got really sick and the Dr. ( a pediatrician yet!) kept blowing me off. It turned out she had pnemonia! We switched drs after that!
GOD Bless!

I hope he is feeling better soon! It breaks my heart when my little ones are feeling bad. :sad1:

Heather

How very worrisome :worried:. So sorry to hear your future little soldier boy isn't feeling well. Here's hoping it's nothing serious, and with lots of TLC in a few days your little man bounces back to himself. Our little Gson had a virus and high fever all last week that kept us worried and unfortunatley Dr had no magic cure :( .

:tink: ((hugs)) and prayers for little Luke.

Prayers & pixie dust go out to your little guy. I hope he gets better real soon! :)

I agree!!! My DSIL had that problem with her daughter. When she was an infant she (actually we all noticed) that something just wasnt right with her. She would get blue around her lips and a lot of pulling and tugging while breathing. My DSIL mentoined this everytime to the pediatrician in person and on the phone who told her she was overreacting. Well, it took a call to 911 because my DN stopped breathing at the ER the attending physician looked at my DSIL and said has she seen a pediatrician since she was born and my DSIL said yes!! on several occasions! He then informed her that she had a deafining heart murmer! It turned out the poor baby had a MAJOR heart defect! If you dont feel right then yes seek another opinion.

I can only imagine how worried you are. I hope he's feeling better soon.
