A high school senior lost control of her car on the slick roads this morning and crashed head on into a school bus. She was killed. Her father, a sherriff deputy, was dispatched to the crash before they knew who it was and her mother came upon the scene shortly after on her way to work.

How tragic, that poor family.

Prayers are being said.

My son just got home from school and said this was the cousin of one of his good friends.

He didn't go to high school with the girl, but she attended the district's voc ed where my son does his teacher's training class. He said there were several people crying there today when they found out. :sad1:

OMG...May god bless them with every strength they will need in the days to come.:grouphug:

:sad1:

..and I was complaining that they closed the schools here today!:sad2:

Here is another tragedy that happened this AM in Jackson, NJ.
Copied from the Asbury Park Press:

JACKSON — A 17-year-old who died with his sister this morning in a one-car motor vehicle accident had a clean driving record, authorities said.

Andrew Miller, 17, and his 16-year-old sister, Shatone Glover, were on their way to Memorial High School when they were killed in the crash on Freehold Road shortly after 7 a.m., township police Sgt. Russell Scialpi said.

Miller, who was behind the wheel of the 1996 Nissan Maxima, registered to his father, had a graduated driver's license, and he was driving in accordance with the time and passenger restrictions that come with that license, authorities said.

He did not have any violations on his driving history, said Sandy Grossman, a spokeswoman for the state Motor Vehicle Commission.

Police said Miller was not wearing his seat belt this morning, and they are not sure whether Glover was wearing one, but they said that because of the severity of the crash, it probably would not have mattered whether the teens were belted.
