PPO BOG really worth it?

Just wondering if this is really worth it? The only benefit I am truly seeing IS the PPO(as of right now, still a true PPO and we leave in less than 2 weeks). But honestly, the breakfast options look very lacking, on top of ridiculously expensive. I get we can go the "cupcake" route, but that kind of makes me feel bad. We have FP for SDMT. I'd like to SEE The dining rooms, but just not sure this is worth it. I'm kind of thinking we should cancel it and just stick with rope drop and go to Space or Splash. Any opinions?

We love breakfast there, but we seem to be the dissenters. It was the freshest meal we had in all of WDW, and one of the top 3 meals we had there.

No, I don't think it's worth it. Not only from a cost perspective but what you risk giving up by not hitting attractions at 8:45 am and if you don't miss anything at 8:45 am, rushing through a very expensive breakfast.

I agree we have always had good meals as well .......... but the price is simply way too high for what you get and therefore it gets the reviews it does.

If they only had stuck to their guns and made it a true prix fixe like they advertised - they could offer a much lower price point and be sold out nonstop for breakfast. Instead because so many folks are booking and not ordering much the price keeps going up to cover the costs.

Dining Credit - good value, PPO that stays a PPO - can have a good value depending on guests. BUT KEY HERE is many book a PPO only to have hours change. Be prepared to change your ADR or pay a lot losing important park hours. PPO is always a chance at BOG. AND if there happens to be a EMM day, your PPO gets you at the right spot at opening ahead of crowd but not the 7DMT early access.

The thing about BOG QS is that what comes out of the kitchen can be wildly variable. At the average QS, you are handed the food when it is cooked (unless it's on a heat table). At BOG, they bring it to you on a cart, even though it's QS. So your "hot" food may be waiting for 5-10 minutes while the rest of your party's stuff is assembled; the order of production isn't consistent, and BOG is really high volume at breakfast and lunch. It may also wait for a CM to be back from a prior delivery to deliver yours.

So one person might get their eggs right off when hot; the next will get lukewarm eggs.

If you are paying OOP, feel free to order a coffee, look around, and leave. If Disney cared, they wouldn't allow this. Disney have made entirely clear that the prix fixe breakfast there is not the reality, and the last set of menu changes pretty well solidified the fact that they know people do this and Disney don't care.

so I can make a breakfast reservation and only have a cupcake, not get the full $24.00 meal?

I agree - we use the dining plan, so it's a good value for us, and all three of us eat the breakfast and love it. But, it would be much better as a prix fixe to end all the coffee/cupcake/gawking so you can try to squeeze in a ride on SDMT nonsense - that way people that truly do want to eat there can eat there.

And as a stockholder it infuriates me that they have this massive restaurant with huge overhead and they are running it like a pretzel stand.

Yes, exaggeration .... because that is how much it bothers me to see something so beautiful with so much potential ... operated in that manner.

We liked it so much we ate there twice last year. We had a PPO this year, but that just changed. We won't waste that first hour eating, but we like the food and experience.

I don't blame you, and I don't think it's that much of an exaggeration! Look in this thread alone at suggestions for how to go about it - order a cupcake, order a Mickey straw. That's ridiculous. All for the hope of racing ahead of other people to a ride.

Meh it is okay. I liked the basket of pastries(every ppo meal standard) but the sandwich was okay. Dinner is where the money is at in terms of value. If it was worth price point BOG would not be a disappointment. I went one day by myself (for a special treat) and it was between 20-24 for a quick service breakfast. IA DDP yes if not - then no.

My point with such "tips" is more of cynicism. BOG should either be prix fixe for breakfast, particularly with the PPO stuff, or should act like a normal QS and open with the park. Disney is talking out of both sides of their mouth with BOG, and also leveraging the high price to defend the value of the Disney Dining Plan. Sure, as a QS credit option what you get costs more OOP than other QS breakfasts. But that's only one measure of value; you get more and fresher food with the average QS foodcourt Bounty Platter. The only way anyone can really claim that the breakfasts being served are "worth" $24 is if they're factoring in PPO/beat the rope drop access.

Thank you all for your opinions. Right now, I am really thinking of dropping it- maybe we can pick up a dinner at some point to see the place, but I'm just not seeing much value to it for our family.

I have never understood the mindset of whoever is in charge of making decisions for this restaurant. What a wasted opportunity! They knew how to manage CRT and CP. They have a CS restaurant that folks treat like an attraction, and they squander this opportunity. Yet they add an EMM feature that they charge so people can enter early, and then can eat at a different restaurant. Ridiculous!
