hi! A few days from now our epic adventure begins. I think I'm more excited than my 8yo son. :yay:

I've been reading about The glass elevator at PPH. I think I have it straight, anybody can take it up, but only the higher floors can call it up to take you down? Does this help in the morning with the slow elevator problem?

Last time we were there we were on the 3rd floor and it was the slower season so I don't remember ever having an issue with the elevators.

The second part of my post is wondering if I have overscheduled us. Our last trip it was my son's first trip to Disneyland so we had something every single day. Blue Bayou, Pirates league x2, Jedi, character breakfast, MHP, you get the idea. I swore this time was going to be laid back with nothing scheduled except Blue Bayou.

Fast forward..... We now have:
8/16- arrival day (should be in the parks by noonish)
8/17 12:30 Frozen pre show
8/18 WOC dessert 9pm
8/19 Jedi training
8/20 blue bayou 11:30
8/21- afternoon tea 12:10 S55
8/22 free
8/23 free
8/24 home (flight is at 3:30 so we will hit the parks in the morning)

I had also planned the Pirate Adventure place but it just seemed like overkill. And BB is a must because my son loves it there. PtN is not planned but I'm hoping to fit in a second parade viewing since you don't have to stake out a spot hours ahead. And it made me too anxious to do an ADR for PtN since we are already so booked.

It's making me nervous because I have so many things planned at 12-1. And my son is adamant that we hang out at the pool this time. Last time we were there we were so overbooked we didn't hit the pool once. Should I ditch a couple things or move things around?

Advice and critique are most welcome. Or just tell me to calm the hell down; we have 8 solid days in the parks!!!! :thanks:

Awe an over planner, you're talking my language. I think it looks great and I think you've left plenty of time for other activities, but there again I like to have it detailed right down to when we wake up, what time we have to leave the concierge loung to be in line at a certain time....my family just laughs me off lol! ( I've even been know to set time limits on potty stops on our drive days)

Have a great trip and I'd love to read a trip report when you get home.

You're trip looks great to me. We found in order to assure our pool time we had to have the discipline to leave the park after our lunch plans. Every time we were "let's just ride x-ride" we ate badly into our pool time. So after BB leave the park, after tea head straight back to the hotel and you'll still have a nice amount of pool time. I don't know anything about Frozen so I can't help analyze that day.

And do calm down! Eight days is so many days, I don't think you have overscheduled at all. It should be a fun trip!

The glass elevator at PPH was as much of a crap shoot, last week, as any of the other 3. We were on the 11th floor and would push the down button for the glass and regular elevators and get on whichever came first and wasn't already full. I'm not sure if it can only be used going down for only higher floors. IMO, that would be dumb, at least until they get better functioning elevators.

I got on the glass one several times a few weeks ago from 13th floor and it stopped several times on the lower floors on the way down.

If you child loves pool time then I would be tempted to pair down the times he would like to be at the pool. My kids have always loved their midday breaks and pool time and now at 19, 17, and 15y/o, spending the afternoon at the pool after a busy morning with rope drop is still one of their favorite things about vacation.

I don't necessarily think you're over planned but maybe reschedule your BB reservation for dinner instead of lunch? Or try to catch a later Frozen show? If your son is adamant about pool time and you have all these things scheduled right at the lunch/break hours each day it's bound to make for some conflict.

Frozen is already paid for so that has to stay. I could move BB; I'm following advice for (almost) guaranteed water side table with the early Rez. We could just wait for a table later in the evening. Good thought; thanks!

IMHO- I wouldn't put it at "(almost) guaranteed water side". We too do this first lunch seating for our best chances but you can VERY easily end up a few rows back from the water. Still better than seats in the back.

Regardless of when we do BB we will wait for water side. It's what my son wants.

luckily it's just 2 of us; my son is 8 so no stroller and I'm in decent shape to take the stairs if it's too insane. We are also very early risers and I think it will be just fine. I'm going in with the most positive excited outlook that we will roll with whatever happens. I mean- it's Disneyland after all.
