Potential Airline Strike Info

Delta and the Pilot's Union (ALPA) have reopened negotiations under the direction of the National Mediation Board.

American Airlines won a temporary restraining order against the Transport Workers Union, in district court. This will prevent the union
from taking anymore negative impact actions towards the carrier. There has not been any further updates concerning the flight attendants union.

United Airlines: There has not been any additional information on the flight attendants' union.

Northwest Airlines: Recommendations by the Presidential Emergency Board are still pending.

Thanks,
Pete

To add info- Talked to my sister today who works for UA. Their issue is with the USAir purchase and strike will depend on what happens next week with the merger and how they will incorporate US Air employees. It would not be a system wide strike, but a chaos strike, targeting certain high volume flights that would have the most impact.

I spoke with a friend last night who works for Delta and he said that he was pretty confident that Delta would not be striking. While the Comair strike is having some effect on their work load they see it as added business.

The flight attendants at United will perform CHAOS stikes. This means that they will target certain flights and randomly "strike" on that one. As a former Flight Atttendant based out of Boston I recall that none of the Orlando flights were targeted as "CHAOS" flights. They mainly target business travel flights which have the most impact on the company.

The ComAir pilots were walking the pickets lines when we passed through Orlando yesterday holding their heads high with all the media around.

The American Airlines flight attendants have a very strong union and can cause alot of damage should they strike. The pilots usually support them.

Hopefully we will not have another Eastern Airlines situation where all unions supported the mechanics and then ultimately the end of an airline.

At least this time President Bush is intervening where before the President didn't!!

To all travelling to MCO, I wish you all luck and hope you make it to your final destination safely!!!
