POtC closed all summer?!

a rumor I read says that most of the work will be done on the lift hill and the tracks the boat is guided through after the drop. The new boats don't take the drop well and are doing damage both to them ad the structures that guide them as well. They did a short closure a few weeks back to see what they needed to do and determined they needed to close it for a longer period then they first thought. http://wdwnt.com/blog/2015/02/pirat...-be-closed-all-summer-due-to-safety-concerns/

That's a LONG time to be closed. Wonder what they're doing to it.

I wonder if they are also doing something to that store. I hope not. But on our December trip, they had a survey person asking me all about my experience in they store and what I specifically liked or did not like.

It also sits above a sink hole and has been slowly sinking for some time. The building may need some serious structural work done to it as well as the general long overlooked maintenance of the ride itself. Aside from the repairs it is in desperate need of a good scrubbing. It stinks terribly so I'm told.

No! This makes me sad! We're taking some kids that have never been to WDW before in Sept and this was on our list! Grrr! Praying it will be back up by NoJ!

The sink hole rumor sounds bogus, but best I can tell is that the newer boats are the biggest (not only) problem, Back row in particular, if the boats stack up (like at unload), it seems way too easy for the boat behind it to hit and jump up (and over) the back of the boat in front of it. Weight configuration and use of the back row would be affected by it, but that's probably where the safety concern comes from. If someone were in the back and the boat behind popped up, it could hit them.
