POTC changes

We hadn't been over to the magic kingdom in a couple of weeks until yesterday and noticed some changes on potc. Sorry if this is old news, but Blackbeard has replaced Davy Jones, both at the misty "water fall" in the beginning, and in the voice over at the end. It was kind of a neat little update for the new movie.

This reminded me of a question I had after our trip last month... in POTC, did the wenches always chase the pirates? Didn't it used to be the opposite? Was it changed to be more PG?

The last time we were on the ride, my husband mentioned that the pirates used to chase the women. That's what he remembered from high school, at least.

I remember the pirates chasing the women too when I saw it as a teen, long before the movies came along. I read somewhere it was not "PC" so it was changed to be more lighthearted by having the women chase the pirates with brooms.

When I opened this thread I was hoping it was from the woman who sat behind us the other night on the ride. Just after the little dark hill she was proclaiming to her friend "omg...they added that! I know that wasn't there the last time I rode it, or I NEVER would have ridden it again!"
Then she went on commenting about how much nicer all the "animation" was now.

Its only going to be like that for a limited time due to the new movie.

Yes the pirates used to chase the women and now for PC reasons the women chase the pirates. I think that was changed when they added jack to the scenes.

The pirates used to change the women, except for one, who was sort of a plump lady and she was chasing a pirate. That was the joke. That she was chubby so she needed a man so bad she was chasing a pirate rather than the other way around. That joke didn't seem funny anymore, and that's why they changed it.

We got to see the ride both immediately before the change, and immediately after. It was quite a cool albeit small transition to keep the attraction themed with the current film. And since I totally dig Blackbeard in the new movie over Davy Jones, I loved it.

I actually think that there were two separate refurbs.

I seem to remember that had been changed (as well as the opening) before Jack was added.
