Potatoes are out, Noodles are in at 'Ohana now

I could see phasing out menu items slowly, but this seems like such a drastic change for a restaurant. :confused3

Do you know whether the noodles and stir-fried veggies are vegetarian? Sometimes they put chicken or beef broth into the sauces for those types of dishes.

Yum!

Maybe I'll put 'Ohana back on the list for my upcoming trip. Especially if you can get pineapple again...

Same here. We haven't been to 'Ohana since they added the potatoes and bread pudding. The noodle dish sounds great and definitely fits the theme better than those lame potatoes and boring old bread pudding.

If the pineapple is coming back too, then we'll definitely be returning to this restaurant in July!

Well, our trip isn't until May '09, but I'm thinking unless they change again -we'll probably not try Ohana like I was thinking. My DH is a meat-lover, plus we'll be at the Poly, so I was going to try it. The potatoes and bread pudding sounded so wonderful - that's what I was going for!! If those are gone, we'll probably try something else with things that appeal to ALL of us more. I do agree, though- the noodle dish sounds like it fits the "theming" more - neither of us are big noodle fans, though, unless it's "Italian".

Can't tell you for sure. The noodles had what I would call a sweet and sour type sauce. Very light though not overpowering at all. The vegetables seemed to be just steamed with no type of sauce at all. But the veggies were tasty and fresh.:)

Jasminetigger: Thanks for the update!! While we liked the potato dish, I'm sure we'll enjoy the noodle dish, too. I know that my DH will be happy with the change to the veggie dish since pea pods and broccoli are his favorite 2.

I'll be sorry to see the bread pudding with the bananas foster sauce go though, because I can get the pineapple with caramel sauce any time. (Anyone can go buy a pineapple and slice it up and buy a jar of caramel sauce, and since we stay concierge at the Polynesian they have that available every single night anyway). I know that a lot of people prefer the pineapple, so I guess some people will be happy with the changes, and some won't be. I think they'd have to make very drastic changes to their menu in order for us to never go back. We enjoy the overall ambiance of the restaurant, and our favorites are still there - the salad, the sticky wings, and the shrimp (DH loves seafood, I don't).

Well that frees up one more evening dinner. I loved the potatoes and everyone else wanted the bread pudding. Back to the drawing board.

In fact, I have read that you can ask for the pineapple now, instead of the bread.

You were able to do this even back in May '07.

What's interesting is when the potatos where introduced a little while ago, people were upset. Damned if you do, damned if you don't I suppose...

As for the changes, I'll wait until I actually eat there to make a judgement.

Have you learned yet? That's like the definition of DISers.

I'm glad they're gone. I wasn't too excited about them because I can get cheesy potatoes anywhere. I'm glad they replaced it with a lo mein type dish, much more fitting to the enviroment. YAY, I'm loving all these changes!

Whoops, this post was actually mine.

I had just made my reservation at Ohana for my trip in August, and was really looking forward to it.

Now I'm thinking of changing my ressie. My favorite parts of the meal where the potatos, veggies, and that delish bread pudding. So sad!

Why do they have to change so many things all at once?

I won't lie...I'm kind of bummed about all the changes! I loved the potatoes and bread pudding!! But as long as they keep those Turkey Tips we will be there! I was wondering if someone who has been there recently could tell me what exactly is on the menu now? With all the changes I can't keep track of what is there and what isnt? Also Can you request the bread pudding like some people have requested the pineapple once teh change has been made?

Thanks for the review!

It's funny, I remember when 'Ohana switched to the potatoes people had a fit. Now that they are gone people are having fits again.

I'd still love to have that fresh pineapple for dessert! I've asked many times but told it wasn't available. So what is the status of the bread pudding, staying or going?
