Potato salad, Macaroni salad, and Cole Slaw... Rank 'em.

#1 by far is my homemade potato salad.
#2 would be my homemade cole slaw (I like it with extra vinegar and no sugar/Miracle Whip)
Lastly would be macaroni salad. I have never had one that I liked much.

And I do not like ANY deli made salads. They all taste wrong to me.

Carolina Cole Slaw

This coleslaw is made with a tangy vinegar dressing, with sugar, cider vinegar, celery seed, and other seasonings.

INGREDIENTS:
1 large head of cabbage, finely shredded
1 medium bell pepper, finely chopped
1 medium sweet onions, finely chopped
2 carrots, grated

Dressing:
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 cup cider vinegar

PREPARATION:
Combine coleslaw vegetable ingredients; chopped cabbage, chopped bell pepper, chopped onions, and grated carrots in a large serving bowl.
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine remaining ingredients; bring to a boil.

Simmer, stirring, until sugar is dissolved; pour over vegetables and toss well. Cover and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.

Enough slaw for 8 to 10 servings. Delicious with pulled pork!

All must be home made - I don't like any of the store bought prepared salads.

#1 Mac is my favorite and I'm talking macaroni (salad or small shell), mayo, dash mustard, red onion, olives & celery with salt, pepper and a dash of Lawry's

Not - Colored twisted pasta with a fat free vinegarette and kidney beans :lmao:

#2 Potato is second depending on who makes it. I like it with egg, a little mustard, some pickle juice and a dash of Lawry's seasoning salt.

#3 Coleslaw - I thought I hated it and usually won't touch it.
Last summer we went to Texas and ate at the Salt Lick in Driftwood. They have a coleslaw that has a salty soy sauce/sesame dressing of some sort. I loved it much to the amazement of my family.

Years ago I had a friend who made the best salads. She said the trick was always use a little bit of Lawry's and a dash of sweet pickle juice in Potato salad.

All I can say is yuck to all 3. I make them all when appropriate, but I won't eat any of them.

If you want a good salad

1 lb tri color pasta cooked to al dente and then run under cold water to stop the cooking
1 can artichoke hearts or crowns, drained and chopped
1 small can chopped olives
1 large red onion chopped fine
3 carrots grated
1 can water chestnuts chopped fine
8 oz balsamic vinigrette of choice

mix them all together, refrigerate for at least 1 hour but preferably over night.

Cole Slaw (vinegar based kind)
Potato Salad (my sister's)
Macaroni Salad (yuck)

/
1 - Vinegar Colelaw (not mayonaise coleslaw)
2- Macaroni salad (the mayoniase kind)
3 - Tri - color pasta salad with red onion
4. - Potato salad

Potato #1 (I love warm potato salad too!)
Cole Slaw #2 (especially the one with the ramen noodles)
Macaroni #900 Can't stand it!!!
But I do like to make my own pasta salads and have used Sundried Tomatoe salad dressing as a quickie for pasta salads.

#1 Potato Salad:thumbsup2
#2 Cole Slaw if available....KFC has the BEST!
#3 & NEVER macaroni salad. I cant even touch cold macaroni. It reminds me of Dead flesh!:scared:

:lmao: How much dead flesh do you touch?

#1 Potato Salad
#2 Cole Slaw
#3 Macaroni Salad

Now if you add Pasta Salad in there, I love that and make it 3 times a week with different ingredients.

Instead of mustard use Durkees. :thumbsup2 Much better. Although I do not know the amount, I just kind of wing it.;) I know you would not need that much.

I don't think they sell that near me.... I can't tell what it is, but it doesn't look familiar.

Potato Salad #1

Cole Slaw #2

Macaroni Salad #3 HATE IT!!!

1 and 2 are pretty equal if they're made right.

I think cole slaw is the most consistent of the three, so that's my #1.

Macaroni salad and potato salad are subject to widely varying recipes it would be hard to say, but potatoe salad gets the edge.:)

I HATE water chestnuts! They are my most hated food. I was kinda with you until that! LOL!

1. potato
2. macaroni
cole slaw doesn't make the cut at all.

Cole Slaw is #1 with ribs
Potato Salad is #1 with Burgers
Macaroni Salad is #1 with BBQ Chicken

Potato salad (only if it's German and not American) #1

Macaroni (depending on what's in it) #2

Cole Slaw is OK but it's #3.

Although if either the macaroni or potato has mustard, Cole Slaw would be #1 and the other 2 would be tied for #3.

Me, too!!!!! Esp. the comment about KFC. They def. have the BEST cole slaw in the world!!!!!!! Matter of fact, I might have to put KFC cole slaw above potato salad!!!!

Potato - gross.
Cole slaw - gross.
Macaroni - gross.

I'm not a fan of BBQs. ;)
