Everyone is invited to post a pic of their favorite serviceman or servicewoman here to honor them for their bravery:

Here is the only picture I have uploaded right now of my DH in his uniform. It was my senior prom. He is no longer serving in the Military. But I owe many thanks yous to the past, present and future members of our Military.

I will post mine here... I've posted my brother on two other threads - he was KIA in Vietnam in 1969. Also my father was a veteran of WWII in the South Pacific. Sadly he died "young" at the age of 62. I miss them both!

Thank you to all who have served and to all the families like mine who have lost a loved one who made the ultimate sacrifice for our great nation!

I don't have a picture but my DH was a Marine and served in Viet Nam and in Desert Shield as a National Guardsman. He went to a Memorial service today and was wearing a Viet Nam veteran hat. Someone came over to him, shook his hand and welcomed him home. Makes me get a lttle misty.

I don't have any pics...as I don't have any family members that have served. But I thought this thread would be a good opportunity for me to at least be able to say

THANKS!!!

to all who have served, are serving, or have made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may be free!

Thanks also to also those who have remained at home while their loved ones served!

No pictures, but:

My mom (never went to a war zone, but she was instrumental in processing troops in the gulf war).

My father in law (Korea War I believe).

My grandfather served in WWII and my uncle has written many books on the subject about him.

My mom lost a cousin in Vietnam. I never met him.

So I'd like to honor them today! :)

Everyone knows my husband is deployed right now. Here he is in a regular uniform:

My grandfather was in WWII. He never spoke a day about what he did and I didn't find out until after he died that he jumped into Normandy. My grandmother being the woman that she is wouldn't let my grandfather go alone and joined the Red Cross and was stationed overseas as a nurse. There isn't enough room here to list all the family members that have served and yes some died in battle. We have always been a some sort of military family and I guess being married to it was natural to me though it's so hard somedays. Thank you for the wonderful thread.

Well I don't have any pics, but I would love to honor some special people here.

My Dad - Patrick N Hayes II US Army - Vietnam
My Grandfathers - Partick N Hayes - Merchant Marines -- WWII
Thomas Bird - US Army -- WWII (now deceased)
My Husband - Justin D Jordan - US NAvy -- Gulf War
My Father in law - Roy Jordan - US Army - Vietname
My step Father in law - William Dooley - Marines - Vietnam

I am so very proud of each of these men. They sacrificed so much to serve their country. :thanks:

This is my grandfather with my cousin's brand new baby. He served in WWII and the Korean War. He passed away a couple of weeks ago. We miss him.

My other grandfather served in WWII, as did my FIL, though I don't have digital pictures of them. Dh also served in the army.

I guess I'm a bad mom because I don't have a picture to post here.

My 21-year-old son, John Benjamin Milligan, is in the Army stationed in Balad, Iraq. He has been there since October. I love him and miss him everyday!

My father Risden Lyle Fountain
My godfather Alexander Graham
My godmother's dad Jacob L Devers
My uncle Charles LeBlanc
My husband James Vernon Crawford
His Father James Moore Crawford

DH- Honorable discharge May 2005 from US Navy
My maternal grandfather- USS Curtis survivor in Pearl Harbor
My paternal grandfather- Passed in African theater during World War II
My father- Birtish Royal Navy
My father in law- Two tours in Vietnam with the Marine Corps

Many thanks to all those currently serving and to their families. It is a selfless profession and you are not thanked frequently enough for all that you do. May we never forget those that have passed defending this nation and may we always remember the sacrifices our current active duty and reserve families make. Thank you all so very, very much.
