Great thread! I would like to add my dad who served in Korea and became a US citizen afterwards. He had come to the US as a 16 year old war orphan from Poland after WWII and joined the US Army 4 years later.

I would like to honor my dad, retired Coast Guard and National Guard.

And Lance Corporal Daniel Swaim, USMC. He was one of DH's best friends. He was killed Nov 10, 2005 in Iraq.

I'd like to acknowledge my nephew, John Kelsey, who just finished basic training in S.C. and my F-i-L, who fought in the Navy in WWII:thumbsup2 ......

Let's keep this thread going.... :teeth:

I just saw this thread. I have no pictures, but I would like to remember some WW11 veterans:

My Dad: Joseph served on an aircraft carrier in the south Pacifac
My FIL: Charles served on a PT boat in the south Pacifac

Neither man spoke about their experiences

My good friend Bill served as a Marine. He is now speaking in high shcools in our area about his experiences as a Marine before the service was integrated. I never see him out without his retired Marine cap.

My neighbor, Stanley, who is so active as an historian in the local VFW. He is trying to capture stories from the brave men and women who served before us in order that we learn from them.

May I also honor my nephew Chris who is serving in Iraq? His rank of Sergeant is official tomorrow.

Thank you to all who serve our country, and to those families who sacrifice so much when their loved ones are standing watch around the world. May God bless you all, and keep our troops safe.

I'm with you on this one! Lets keep in going! :thumbsup2

I don't have any pics either.

DH, Gregory, is in Iraq now. The children and I miss him every day.

My cousin in-law, Shane, is on his second Iraq tour. He has barely seen his second child, now three.

My grandfather, Kurt, served in WWII. What was especially interesting about him was that he was born in Germany, but he came to the US as a child and fought for us. Many of his relatives were unfortunately on the other side.

..I'll pray for your DH and C-in-L's safe and SPEEDY return.........BTW, YOU are very brave, too, raising your children and sacrificing your DH for all of US......
