Just a few more little easy ideas for some of you....Find most clothing at a Goodwill/charity store. Love them!
Tom Sawyer / Huck Finn / Becky - check out Goodwill or other stores like this. Get pants to big, roll the bottoms up, get old shoes there( spray with Lysol! ) and a plaid shirt you roll the sleeves up on. Use a bit of old hemp/natural rope as a belt or over the shoulder as suspenders. For Becky find an old Shirt dress or a long skirt and white/cream blouse. Find a cheap straw hat and add some silk flowers with hot glue. or use a BIG wide piece of ribbon and tie it in the hair. Apron? use an old white cotton bar/dish towel and tuck it into the top of the skirt apron and let it hang down...
Jail birds. Find old white shirt and pants. Use 3/4 or larger tape to make stripes on the shirt and pants. Use spray paint in Black or orange? to make stripes. Use a Wide Sharpie marker to add numbers on the back.. you could mask off a 3 to 4 inch wide X 8 to 12 in long box you dont paint and do the numbers there.
If you want to be "real" Jail "Birds" check out craft and fabric stores for Boa Feathers on sale this weekend. Hancock fabric has them for $3 to $5 each.
Also on year DS was the Night Sky. Very easy! we used black sweat pants and shirt - to hot for WDW! So use black T and pants... and then we took a bunch of silver and gold star garland we got at a Dollar store and wrapped it all around him, pinning it at the pant cuff, knee, waist, neck, and both hands...
Also if you do this with multi color star garland you can go as the (misspelling alaert here!), Aurora Borelois..... same idea, but if you can find a tye dye shirt and use it it with the star garland it looks pretty good!
We used 4-7 of the 9 foot garland, they have 25 foot ones now, and I always say more is better...
Also I have used Elmers Glitter Glue in hair for stage effets... it has allways washed out and adds a ton of effect! Used Green for the witch on a Wiz. of OZ show. Red, Gold and Silver for a Devil. Silver for and Angel... you get the idea.... Elmers also is aproved by the Food and Drug guys so we have used it in school a lot!
Look for iron on letters at craft stores/
WalMart and use them on T shirts or Thrift store dress shirts to make up "Service" industry companies.... Think "Mickey's" Ice Cream Tasters... "Donalds"?... Add a cap with the inatials of the "company" and you have a keepsake and costume!
How about "O.D.R.T" Member or President or? in very large letters as in Offical Disney Ride Tester(in very much smaller letters).
Have a few more ideas, but laundry and kids call. Will post latter.
You all have had some great ideas and costumes, can't wait till the 6th!
