***Post Your MNSSHP Costume Ideas***

HI,
DD and I have MNSSHP tickets fo Oct 28, 30 and 31. She is 14 and very quiet, makes A's at school. For her costumes, she wants to be totally out of character. One night she wants to be a Gene Simmons type rock star and another a vampirra type with a ghost, dead face paint job. She is a very good artisit so her face paint jobs are very good.
I have no problem with this, it's Halloween and scary dress up is all part of it, but after reading other posts for Tinkerbell, Minnie and so on I wonder if she will be allowed in the park. It would break her heart to be turned away or made to change. Has anyone who has been before seen any costumes of this type before? Or is there a number I can call and check?
Thanks

My hubbie and myself are both going to our first MNSSHP in costume. We are 2 50-somethings that have always loved Halloween, and have won a few prizes over the years for our costumes. We just got back from our local party store which was having a clearance sale on last year's costumes. I picked up a witch hat with LIME GREEN stripes and hair, and a lovely spider brooch. I think I'll dress in a black shirt and capris and get a lime geen boa or scarf, and that should do it. DH got a cool pirate hat, now just needs to accesorize with a scarf, earring etc. We figured our costumes will work well on the rides and such. Can't wait ...we should have a blast. We'll be there on Oct.3 pirate:

Ok, I admit it I am a Halloween junkie. I love to create Halloween costumes. Last weekend we went to our favorite campground for a Halloween Themed weekend. They have camper to camper trick or treating and a dance complete with costume contests for adults and children. They have prizes for the top 3 adults and the top 3 kids. My costumes won 4 out of 6 prizes this year. I thought that I would share them.

This is my dh, his costume won 1st prize for adults. I got the idea online and changed it to use items that I already had. The costume is 8 ft tall and his head is on the platter. He is standing up. When asked what he was he replied "dinner"

This is another adult costume that I made, a friend came up with it a few years ago and my mother is wearing it. It is called short man. This costume did not win.

For the kids costumes:

1st place was my niece. We got this idea although we changed it a lot, off family fun's web site. She is a flower planter.

2nd place was my middle son Hunter. He was a Zombie/Goul in a wooden casket. We had the casket from a mummy costume that we made a couple of years ago. The Zombie/Goul we combined ideas from different costumes that we have seen and added some flashing green sunglasses to the mask and a blacklight in the coffin made him glow.

3rd prize went to my youngest son Colby. He was a bee hive. I made this costume when my oldest son was Colby's age. I must say that is is completely original and I have never seen another bee hive anywhere.

My oldest son Nick didn't win a prize, but I love the costume. It was his idea. I had suggested a warewolf (used some ideas from the big bad wolf costume on family fun) but he wanted to be a disco warewolf. I found the clothes at the salvation army and added the peace sign necklace. I hot glued a glow stick on it to make it stand out and we added a spikey flashing bracelet. This costume fits his personality so well and he had a great time wearing it.

I went as a basket of dirty laundry, but I don't have any pictures to share yet, My dsil took a couple, but she didn't use a digital camera.

I hope you all enjoy the costumes as much as we do.

Well as I posted/whined on a different thread...
I got the bad-hair-cut from .... well you all get it...
soooo, I get to re think my costume ideas.

On a good side? I have lost so much hair with the cut(s)- about 5-10 inches by this time tomorrow.. with the 2nd "fix"- that I will be able to gell and glitter it straight out from my head. And I bet it will take 5-7 pounds off my weight! The gel/glitter won't last on wet rides, but will be fun while it lasts.

Or so I am telling my self! Right now I need a good, postive side. I don't even want to go and design costumes. And I have at least 7 to do in the next few weeks. Or shop for fabric.

Even choclate doesn't sound good!
Now as long as Ophelia keeps turning it will all be good, but the way the last 2 days have gone I won't be surprised if it comes toward us anyway! Just another way to mess my hair up.. ( this is my attempt at humor...sorry,kids!)

Not going this year to MNSSHP, just trick or treating at DTD. But the one year we did go we dressed as docs with scrubs and foot booties and masks, had the caps, but it was too hot. Very comfortable costumes BTW.

My kids this year are Darth Vader and Yoda. Last year they were Buzz and Woody and the year before that Spiderman:charac4: and a spider. My oldest (before he had a conterpart) was a zebra, a knight, an M&M. This year we may dress up with them, My DH wants to be ObiOne and I may be Princess Leia (my DH wants the slave costume but I'm leaning more toward her white dress costume.

Do adults usually dress up or not? I wasn't planning to, because I just want to enjoy myself without worrying about a costume, but I don't want to be the only schmuck NOT dressed either.

:earboy2:

I dont know if adults dress (this is my first MNSSHP), but me and my twin sister (Disney Wirlie Girlie) are going dressed up anyways, as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum...so I doubt you'd be the only adult dressed up. Disney's all about being young and young at heart, so I cant help myself... Have fun! :wizard:

Nicely put SpectroMagic, and I'm not just saying that b/c your my sister! I can't wait to be Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, well, I'll be Tweedle Dee...And I don't think I'll ever be too old to dress up. Especially in Disney!Looking foward to my 1st MNSSHP!...2 weeks and counting!

Do any of you plan to incorporate a green mickey into your costume so we can recognize DISers? I was thinking of adding one to the skirt of my costume. I figure no one off the boards will take much notice of it, but DISers will know what it is.

Hi everyone! DH and I are going to MNSSHP on 10/13 as Space Invaders!! We'll be a glowing - and more importantly - we'll have on our lime green flashing antenneas! Its gonna rock and I CANT WAIT ANY LONGER!

AGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH! :rotfl2:

   Disney! Disney! Disney!

Oh my goodness, that's hilarious! I wish I was going that week just to see that! I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to spot you with those flashing lime green antennas! We'll be there on Sept 30th. Sounds like it'll be really funny. You'll have to post a picture when you get back! :rotfl2:

okie dokies!! have a great time!!!!!

We decided to go as NFL extreme fans. We will represent 3 teams, and it should be easy and fun!
I did see an awesome idea, if anyone is going with a baby. The mom and dad wear black and a black ski cap with a lilly pad and flower on top, and then dress the baby in a frog costume. So cute, and easy!

My Dh & I are wearing shirts that I made that say "MNSSHP". My kids will be

DD9 - 20's flapper

DS6 - Met baseball player

DD4 - Tinkerbelle

Great costumes! I love looking at all these pictures.

We won't be there this year, but we went last year. Our theme was Peter Pan. We had 5 kids: Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Wendy, Princess Tiger Lily and a pirate. DH also went along with the pirate idea.
