We need any help with finding an adult Wendy costume for our Peter Pan theme on Oct 20. Any tips for a homemade costume would be appreciated. Even an inexpensive gown would work. Help!! :paw:

Wendy is dressed in her night gown... that should be easy to find in any department store and then she wears her shoes/slippers.... good luck hunting!

Costumes for our family are FINALLY complete!!! The one costume I thought would be the hardest to find was the easiest... DD Morgan is the Queen of Hearts and of course mine was the hardest to get. I am dressing up as a Flapper. I am a size 10 and boy oh boy some of the costumes they have were a HUGE "No, No" for me :earseek: Good ol internet saved the day on that one and today I found a great costume shop to get that last of the details... just had to drive an hour to get there... sigh....

For anyone who has dressed up as a Flapper.... what kind of shoes do you wear at the parks with your costume???? :confused3

Well tonight after seeing the Movie Corpse Bride, my daughter decided to be that character for our trip on October 7th. I am making her the wig out of yarn as they didn't have one in the store where we got the costume. I saw it on the internet, but its simple enough to make. I will be a pirate. This will be a 3 moms and 3 daughters trip and I think my friend will be Catwoman and her daughter will be Tinkerbell, not sure what the other 2 have decided yet. Looking forward to having a great time at the MNSSHP this year.

Don't ya'll get hot in those costumes?

I bet so... I know my kids are going to be sweltering in their costumes but that's what they wanted and since this trip is a surprise still- I tested the waters (so to speak- to find out if they'd really want to wear those even if it was super hot) by asking them if they'd want to wear those costumes to Six Flags for Fright Fest here... and they both emphatically said yes. so I guess they'll be sweatin' hard while we're there. Fortunately we're also Texans (assuming you are too?) and they are used to hot hot hot anyway. LOL

(they are going in Disney costumes- the hot ones are going to be stitch and power rangers. I suspect Stitch's "head"- which is thick plush- is going to be flopping from the back of her neck pretty quickly on and my power ranger will be headless after awhile- the head part covers almost his entire head and is plastic feeling- doesn't seem to be very breathable. I suspect the head portions will be more than they can bear after a short time. The rest of the costumes are pretty breathable from what I can tell)

Maybe something like high heeled Mary Janes?

:wizard: :pug:

Sorry if someone posted this costume idea already, but it just hit me and I wanted to share with you guys.

It would particularly work well for a group of 3 (or two):

Make teeshirts and go as the "Propane", "Electricity", and "Wood" guys from the TV commercials!

Well I just got my brand new sneaker broken in... :) now I need to start working on the shoe possibilities in my closet and give them some good ol test runs! Maybe I'll just have to go back out SHOPPING ( :goodvibes ) and find something suitable and comfortable enough

We were supposed to be going on the 13th but things changed and we are now leaving tomorrow and going to the Sept 30th mnsshp, whoo hoo... our first one!!! I'm so excited. With that said, this last minute change happened YESTERDAY so no time to make the Alice in Wonderland theme costumes for all of us. So my daughters are wearing the Cinderella & Snow White costumes they already have. Which left my 15 month old son, what to wear? I went to a consignment shop today and would you believe they had a Prince Charming costume in his size?!?!? Well it's a little big, have to fold the sleeves and pant cuffs. I have a raggedy ann costume but not sure if i'm going to wear it, I don't have the striped stockings.... and hubby doesn't have a costume :-(
Anyway, if you are going on Sept 30th, keep an eye out for yet another Cinderella & Snow White & this adorable little Prince Charming. Hopefully he will be in a better mood then when I tried to take his picture today, lol.

that is absolutely adorable...

I want to go in costume but I don't know what to wear. My best friend wanted me to be Lilo and she could be stitch (everyone says if I was younger I look like Lilo, I hope that's a compliment) but then she saw this bee costume that she thought was so cute, it had little wings and even a stinger my question is, if I wanted to wear wings (not even big enough to see if looking at me from the front) is that bad...would that be a no-no on rides and such, will I have to take them off.....if anyone could help that would be great

From the first day we started planning our *surprise* Mother/ daughter trip to Disney World and MNNSHP I started searching for a Princess Aurora costume for me. princess: Sleeping Beauty is my favorite Disney movie and so I just knew I had to dress as her.

The adult Princess Aurora costumes I found all cost about $80.00 and that was way out of budget and they were also the pink dress. :sad2: I like the blue better. So I decided to make my costume.

The most complex sewing I've ever done before now was to put patches on my daughter's Girl Scout vest. :confused3 But I was determined. I searched and searched :earseek: for an adult Sleeping Beauty costume pattern to no avail. So I looked at pictures of her on line and in the movie and picked the pattern that closest resembled her dress. I had to make major modifications (long sleeves, the collar, no gathering of the skirt) but after 3 and 1/2 months and becoming best friends with my seam ripper it's finally done.

I'm so proud of myself!! :cheer2:

I can't post a picture of it on because I can't lace up the back by myself and I'm home alone. :earboy2: But I had to post a picture!!!

It looks incredible ! Great job! You'll have to post a pic of it on when you can. I have my sewing machine, and I've been getting better acquainted with it, but I don't think I'd be able to pull off something like that! :earseek: WTG!

What is your DD dressing as?

Thank you! There were times in the process that I just had to put the project down for a while because it wasn't coming out like I wanted it to. There was a lot of trial and error and ripping out of stitches!!! I really didn't think I was going to get it done in time. It's not perfect. There are some flaws...but most of them can't been seen unless you examine it really closely. But it was down to crunch time. We leave for Disney on Monday and I will be away all this weekend at Leaderee.

DD isn't a dress person. I asked her a couple of months ago, "If you had to pick a Disney character (besides Stitch which is what she was last year) to be who would you choose?" She chose Jasmine "because she gets to wear pants." :goodvibes

Rissa's mom- I just wanted to tell you that the dress came out wonderfully! I mean, it's identical! I'd be proud of myself too, good job!! It deserves many compliments and high praise! Have fun on your mother/daughter trip during MNSSHP. I'm leaving tomorow and will be at the party tomorow nite! So excited!

Thank you! I really enjoyed making the dress...even with the frustration when things didn't come out right. Good thing I bought enough fabric to compensate for mistakes.

Have a great time at the party! I can't wait. We've never been to MNSSHP and I can't wait to trick or treat with DD in the Magic Kingdom. It will be magical!!

DD is growning up so fast and I'm glad I we will be able to make these memories while she's still not embarrassed to be seen with mom!

I see you're staying at POP also!! Hope to see you there!!

Here are our costumes for MNSSHP. I still have a few things to finish, but they're pretty close.
