***Post Your MNSSHP Costume Ideas***

I really wanted DD to be Esmeralda at the upcoming MNSSHP, but I botched her costume terribly (I'm a horrible seamstress), and I haven't found ANY authentic looking ones for sale. Anyone have any ideas for a unique Disney related girl's costume? She isn't overly into the princesses (she loves Wall-E with all her heart, but Eve would be kind of awkward to pull off), and we're trying to think of something that won't be prevalent! I'm willing to pay for a custom costume as well, since I can't seem to pull off sewing one myself! Any ideas? It will just be and DD6 at the party, and I haven't even started thinking about whether or not I'll dress up, but coordinating costumes are an option as well. Thanks in advance!!! :upsidedow

Eve wouldn't be that hard, actually. You could use a lady's hoopskirt inverted for the body, cardboard "arms" and then a white fitted skullcap/ for the head with face paint.

Well, after looking at the various dresses online, she decided she would rather be Tiana, so I bought a gorgeous dress online for $40. This happens every time I want to make her a costume (or birthday cake). I spend money on materials, botch it something fierce, and end up buying whatever it is online :lmao: I do love the Eve costumes I saw online though...I sure wish Wall-E and Eve were at WDW!

My lofty goal is Giselle from Enchanted, in her full wedding attire. Watch out....or I'll knock ya down with my dress. :rotfl:
DD *may* be Merida. But if dh ends up coming along, I think I will dress her as little girl Charlotte (Princess & the Frog) and dh would be "Big Daddy."

I've been working on (ok, searching the net) our costumes as well! My mom, my uncle, and myself will be attending sometime the week of the 14th, and I'm planning on going as Captain Hook, my mom as either Tinkerbell or Wendy, and my uncle as Peter Pan. I'm trying to decide whether to go ahead and order my costume yet, or wait.

This is the costume I plan on ordering:

I'll be adding a ruffled shirt, black leggings, and flat black boots. I'm so excited for this, it will be our first time attending MNSSHP!

I just realized I never posted this past year's costumes here <3
We hit up two parties on the weekend of the 40th Anni (sooo crowded on Friday b/c of that)

I ended up making 3 new costumes Alice, Fairy Mary and Lilo :artist: and wore my Edna I made in 2007

Mom wore Fairy Mary both nights

I wore Lilo and Bee wore Wendy (1990s Disney on Ice dress) the first night

Then I wore Edna and Bee wore Alice

I can't wait to see progress on this thread this year of everyone's stuff! :yay:

This year I have a big group of ladies going for my :bride:Bachelorette :bride:weekend :woohoo:

I'm making Charlotte (Pink Dress of DOOM) and a femMad Hatter (based off park hatter. Mom is wearing Fairy Godmother and Fairy Mary and Bee is wearing Alice and Drizella :dance3: Plus all the other girls stuff XD

Fairy Godmother is done already

Last September, we went as a hidden Mickey. There were four of us, and I bought us all orange t-shirts. I made a big Mickey head stencil from corrugated and laid the t-shirts out two on top and two on bottom. Then I put the stencil over so there was a part of the mickey head on eah shirt. I did it in a way when we were walking around, no one knew what were. When they asked, we stood together to form the Mickey head. The costumes were a big hit. We had castmembers all around the park telling us it was the most creative they've ever seen. We showed up at Pirates and they told us they were warned by other castmembers to look for us and they were waiting for us to arrive. It made my kids trip. We liked the party so much we went twice. So much fun!!!!

We went 9/30 last year and had a blast (even though it was super crowded). These were our costumes.

We are going again this year too and I am sooo excited. I think we may do pirates this year.

I had (what I thought) was a brilliant costume idea. Its going to be me, my BF, my little sister and her BF. So my thought was to be the monorail. One of us could be the front, two the middle sections, and then the tail end. I was just going to get us all cardboard boxes the same size and paint them white like the monorail with the colored stripe and windows.

That costume may be a bit hard to get onto rides though...

So now we are thinking Padme and Obi Wan and Han Solo and Leia.

The BF and I were going to go twice, the second time we'd be Indiana Jones and Elsa (I like her costume a lot more than Marion's).

Pp I got a simplicity gypsy girl pattern to do Esmeralda. It looks easy enough and I'm a novice. Maybe check that out if she wants it for dress up since she decided on tiana.

Is there a chance to make a new 2012 thread or will it just continue on this one?

I made rapunzel and Flynn for dh and I last year and likeli will just do the same this year. I love Alice and Wendy but I don't think I can get him to dress up as a counterpart to him.

As it was I barely got the vest on him and had to to with already green color because he wouldn't do the turquoise of Flynn. He also refused the satchel.

He took quite a beating from Alice on his lack of commitment to the costume. I enjoyed that thoroughly!

I'd love to see a photo of this!

:thumbsup2 Fabulous costumes! The DEVO one made me LOL :lmao:

DH and I are so uncreative. Still mulling over a pirate and wench, but can't find any wench costumes that aren't indecent (ie: as in, cover all my parts LOL).

So excited to be going this year - can't wait to see all the creative people with truly great costumes (like the ones posted here).

This year will be our first party and we are so excited! My parents are going with us and my dad is not really into dressing up much and my DD wants us all to go as a group, so I wanted to do something very simple. We are going as "Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeers". The adults will be wearing navy blue shorts (women skorts) and white tshirts with our names on the front and the club logo on the back and then the orignal ears. DD will be going as minnie mouse.

DD is going to be Rapunzel this year and I am going as Mother Gothel. Sure hope it's a cool night or I'll melt in the long, heavy dress, but it will be loads of fun. Can't wait!

It was surprisingly comfortable for cavorting around a theme park.

It is my first MNSSHP!!! I have been brainstorming for weeks now and I have it narrowed down to a select few:

-I thought it would be cute to dress as a flapper like Boardwalk Empire style or Great Gatsby esque with maybe a fun feather head piece?

-Alice from Alice in wonderland?

-The Corpse Bride?

-A lady pirate like Elizabeth Swann, but part of me wants to have something I know no one else will have so that brings me to the next one...

-This one comes straight from my imagination...Lady Dream Finder! LOL...I know, I know it sounds crazy but I was thinking I could get a Victorian style/steam punk female version of Dream Finder's blue suit and a top hat complete with blue ribbon. I would bring my 1992 Figment plush around with me through out MK like how they used to do at EPCOT with the real (puppet) Figment.

So many choices! At least I have until October to decide :woohoo:

I like the last one. Please do it and post pics.

Just wanted to post a costume update. DM decided to go as Peter Pan, which means DU will be Smee! I did go ahead and order my Captain Hook costume, and have been able to also add some gold jewelry (big ring, ear rings, and bracelet) that I bought for really cheap at Forever 21. I also got a white sleeveless shirt to go underneath. Now the only thing I'm really looking for is a better quality hat since the one that came with the costume is all misshapen. DM is still deciding which peter pan costume to order, and we got DU a striped blue shirt for Smee.

Can't wait for Oct! :yay:

Last year I made my costume. I was a Mickey's premium ice cream bar package. I painted it onto a pillowcase. I would post a pic, but I dont have enough post yet. It was really cute, even got a best costume button, from frontierland! No idea what I will do this yr!

My DD14 wants to be the Corpse Bride. She's on the fence about her mother dressing up too, but I'm such a Halloween nut it would be torture not to be in costume when other adults at MNSSHP are dressed up!!

So.... if you happen to be at the Sept 25th MNNSHP be on the lookout for a Corpse Bride and Lumiere (which I just have to attempt because it sounds like such a fun costume!)

She considered Belle, but really loves the Burton characters... I just can't come up with a theme costume for myself that goes with the Corpse Bride.
