Love it!

I don't like being shown up with how bad my pictures look, especially with professional photography.

I don't like being shown up with how bad my pictures look, especially with professional photography.

I am going to assume you were directing this comment at me, so allow me to respond.

I apologize, it was not my intent to "show you up". I routinely post pics in 8+ threads at any given time. To be honest, I simply go to the last picture in each given thread and click the reply button. I usually do not pay attention to the pictures in the thread until AFTER all of my pics are posted. Then I go back and take a look at the pics that have been posted since my last visit.

That being said Outlaw...this is not a contest. This not about trying to prove who is the best photographer. This is the second post that I have seen from you today commenting about how someone's "professional" photos make yours look bad. These threads represent a bunch of Disney fanatics sharing their favorite pictures. Additionally, since the bulk of the pictures are about WDW we are all going to have the same shots. We all have shots of the MK castle, we all have shots of Space Ship Earth in Epcot, we all have shots of the Hollywood Studios sign. Personally I don't sit around worrying about someone posting a better picture to try to show me up. There are people on this board with superior photography skills than me. Instead of worrying about them showing me up, I look at there pics and try to pick up things to improve my photographs.

Bottom line, there are folks on this board with superior photography skills. Conversely, there are folks with very basic photography skills. And that's okay, there is room for everyone.

Lastly, while I appreciate the fact you believe I am a professional photographer. I will let you in on a little secret... I am no professional, I'm a guy that actually took the time to read this camera manual twice, purchased 3-5 books over the past year to learn how to properly compose a shot, and joined multiple photography web sites trying to learn and improve my skills. I will be taking my first photography course this spring at my local community college. Overall have been involved in photography for about ten months.

First of all, I am not assuming or treating this as a contest, but clearly when someone posts a highly composed photograph which is nearly identical to which someone previously posted, I find that rather unacceptable. If I did that to someone, I would expect to have that person become irritated with me.
I am not going to say that I do not like your photographs and I will not say that I don't think professional photographers should be allowed to post, even though you suggest that you are not. It's great that we have professionals enjoy the site. You photos particuarly are very vibrant and you have a very complete eye to the detail of the subject.

With that being said, I am sure that you have plenty of pictures to post. So yes, I will stand by the fact that it was a bad decision on your part to post a nearly identical subject picture to my previous post. I am sure that particular picture selection was not random. I am not looking to compete, but I feel is it a rather inappropriate action for someone with far superior photography skills to point out this with an almost identical picture in the very next post. We are all here to enjoy posting pictures because of our fascination and passion for all things Disney. I would like to continue to post and be able to enjoy doing so. It is these isolated incidents that prohibit that enjoyment.

Okay Outlaw...you got me. I deliberately posted the same picture to shame you into never posting again. I'm guilty of trying to try to win the love and approval of thousands of Disboard members who I have never, ever met. I was secretly hoping that by showing you up in this very thread, Disboards members would send me multiple PMs telling me that I am the greatest self taught photographer to ever take a picture of the Disney Hollywood Studios sign. ;)

Okay....I'm being sarcastic, but seriously what do I stand to gain by trying to deliberately show you up? If I would have posted my picture two posts away from yours am I still trying to show you up? What about three posts away? Where does it end? Should I have not post my picture at all because you happened to post a similar picture first?? I'm surprised you are still so defensive after I already extended you an apology. Truth be told, it appears you are very self conscious about the quality of your pictures. If you are happy with your pictures, then who cares how they compare to others? There are numerous posters on the Disboards who are much, much, much better photographers than I am. I would never request that these folks not post their shots because they are better than mine...nor would I try to place limits on when or where they can post their shots. If someone wants to post a better picture of the Hollywood Studios sign right after my post, I have absolutely no problem with that. Because the point of the thread is not about how good or bad our pictures look in comparison to others. The point of the thread is to share our experiences at Disney.

I apologize to my fellow forum members for injecting some unnecessary drama into the thread.
