I work at a hospital on the mother-baby unit.
Holding those newborns has helped squash many "I want a baby" feelings we moms get from time to time!
I can go to work, hold a baby, and go home!

That would be a great job go to work get your fix and go home.

But now, I can't imagine life without him!

if everybody planned every baby the population would halve my son was not planned but he has made my life a much happier one

I know, I always wanted to work in that department. So after paying my dues for several years, a position came open and I got it!! Now I've been on that floor for 8 years.

BTW, after working on mom-baby unit for one month, I got pregnant with DS-7. The other nurses said "Most young moms become pregnant quickly after working here. Sometimes those newborns are tempting little devils!"

They suck you in with their cute little faces and baby lotion smells!!!

Ariel, I don't know how it is there, but I have a friend who's an RN and she works 12hr shifts. I commend her though b/c we have a nurse shortage here (I think) in IN. Am I right babynurse1?

From what my hospital says, there is a nurse shortage.

I only work part time, and the way they call me and beg me to come in all the time, I would agree.

Did you know September is always our busiest month? We track how many babies are born each month over the years, and September wins every year with
August following closely behind. Must be all those warm fuzzy feelings everyone gets around

the only problem that i have is that i'm a single parent and i would only like to work term time. My son has some special needs and i would not leave him with anybody else (he don't cope too well with change).
Trying to get a job like that is a no no without doing shift work

Our hospital allows our staff to be on the prn roster. Prn means "as needed" in medical terms. Some hospitals call it float or registry positions. Our prn staff get to sign up when they want and they can do it in 4 hour shifts.

That way you are not working the whole 8 hour shift. Also, since you are not regularly scheduled you get a bit more pay on the hour. Wonder if hospitals near you do that ariel 75
