And then, of course, there is that other rumor (unconfirmed by Disney) as to why they really removed Jack Sparrow from DLR.;) ;) They claim it was cutbacks and that Jack Sparrow wasn't as popular anymore or some such thing. We know that's not true. Jack Sparrow is very popular. Maybe a little TOO popular, if you catch my drift. Let's just say that it has been suggested that Disney, perhaps, removed Jack because he was getting lots of attention from many female visitors that - if true - would be highly inappropriate for Disneyland. A former CM who played Jack wrote an article recently about his experience working at DLR and playing Jack, and he claimed to have been approached by many amorous women who basically were acting like Girls Gone Wild. Supposedly, it has been said that many years ago, Disneyland removed the Esmeralda character (from the Hunchback of Notre Dame) because lecherous men couldn't control themselves around the attractive women who played her, and would be inappropriate. So if the Jack story is true and women were unable to control their urges, then Disney probably just got rid of him because it was encouraging behavior that is not G-rated at all, and why subject small children to that?

Of course, again, none of this has been confirmed by Disney to my knowledge, but if the Esmeralda story is true, I am sure that's what happened to Jack Sparrow too. I guess some women just got overly excited because they thought they were inviting Johnny Depp back to their hotel room, rather than some poor, innocent DLR Cast Member!:rotfl2:

Yeah, I mean....DLR will probably never officially confirm that this is why they removed Jack, but the Jack character is extremely popular because of the movies and because he is now a part of the POTC ride. So the fact that they attributed his removal (in living, breathing character form) from the park because his popularity had dwindled is a bit silly. Perhaps the Jack Sparrow character in and of itself was always a little too raunchy and debaucherous to fit into the Disney mold (yes, I know POTC is filled with debaucherous pirates, but we only see them in Animatronic form; Jack Sparrow we have actually seen in the movies, and he is up to no good most of the time!!).

But the fact that grown women can't act civilized around a CM merely playing the Jack character and have to behave like they are in some sort of wild bachelorette party in Disneyland is very disappointing. I am sure we have ALL had our wild times in our lives, but there is a time and a place for that kind of thing - and that time and place is NOT Disneyland, and somehow some people just don't know that! Take that behavior to Vegas, or to New Orleans during Mardi Gras, or Florida for Spring Break...but not to Disneyland!!!

I was also surprised at how my husband loved the characters. It was his first ever Disney experience.

Are those PhotoPass pictures? They are great quality - really clear! If they are PhotoPass, you should post them in that thread too.

Anyway, I LOVE the picture of your son touching Mickey's nose!! SO adorable. He looks very curious and inquisitive as he touches the nose, like he is thinking, "Who....IS...this....big....creature?"

Not an actual walking around character, but here's onw of my son with Ariel

My husband chased down Captain Hook as he was walking (very quickly) down Main Street

Yes, these were all Photopass pictures (except the last 2 with Ariel and Captain Hook). Funny, our PP pics from DL seemed better quality than our WDW PP pics.

Yes, make sure to post those other PP shots over on the PP thread too, if you can. I know you just posted some different PP pictures there, but just in case people don't check this thread they can see all your great PP pictures there as well!

If you look at my DLR PhotoPass pictures (from October and December of last year, sprinkled throughout the Photopass thread thread), you will see that some have great quality and others do not. So that is why I was impressed with yours, as they all seem very crisp and clear and bright!

16 days till our trip & I'm trying to fill some time.....
Found these & thought I'd post them up:

This Alice had seen as numerous times on the trip & actually came off the POD float to talk with Anthony & "be-bop" his nose...

This picture means the most from that trip...Anthony hadn't seen Woody & my hubby took him over to Frontierland for the character greeting & was told they weren't able to do it, because they needed to get over to DCA for the Block Party Bash Parade. My son was very sad, & the CM went in & got Jessie to come out...well she also could tell how disappointed he was & when Woody walked by, she grabbed my sons hand & drug him thru the crowd to catch Woody. The escorts cleared everyone & let my hubby get a picture of the 3 of them & then off they went. (this was our last day in the park). I complimented all of them involved at City Hall. They really made his dream come true!!!

oh for crying out loud, how do you post a pix from your hard drive?? I'll just chalk this up to mommy brain!!

Do you have a (free) online Photobucket account or an account with some sort of image hosting site like Shutterfly, Webshots, etc.? Make sure you have an account like that first. Then, you upload your photos to that account (really simple - you will see the instructions on how to do it once you get on there). Then, after you have your pictures uploaded, you will look for what is called the IMG Code. On Photobucket, you will see a series of codes either underneath or to the right of your chosen picture. The IMG code should be the very last one, or the fourth one down. You click on that bar and copy (Ctrl C) the ENTIRE code. Don't leave any part of the code out. Copy the whole thing that appears in that bar. Then you come back here, start a new post in this thread and paste (Ctrl V) that IMG code into your post, and the picture should appear. Try it!
