Post your Deal... Rental Car Codes August

What's with the lack of mini vans for August-everyone seems to be sold out.

You know what it is? It's people making reservations with questionable codes (like Alamo 711111) and then making another reservation elsewhere as a "backup". It won't help us to get good rates...

Thanks for this tip. I am finding the rates are much better this way also. Whats the CCC shuttle? They do this? Can you tell me more?

You call Alamo at the Disney Car Care Center at least an hour before your pickup time. they will meet you anywhere on the property, even if you are at a park. If you want to Return to the CC, you just bring the car back and they will drop you off at your resort or wherever.

Really? and theres no charge? I imagine you just tip the driver?

Yes. That's it. Alamo provides a great service. Cheaper, convenient and I've never waited at the CCC in any kind of line. Also, I have never waited more than ten minutes for them to pick me up....But do call 30 minutes prior just in case they are busy.:goodvibes

Yep, no charge. The CCC has Alamo and National Car Rental, so either one of those can pick you up. I even had them pick me up from DHS after I go out of the park. They are open to 8 pm. No tip is necessary, put I usually give a couple of bucks.

I just searched at Priceline for a rental car from 1000 Car Care Lane Lake Buena Vista for 1 week, and it came up as $199 straight across the board for National :cool1: Economy, compact, midsized, standard, full, premium, convertible, mid-sized suv, standard sized suv, AND minivan! Also, they will pick you up from you hotel for FREE!!!!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for posting about the Entertainment Book!!!!! We had one collecting dust here, pulled it out and got a sweet deal through Alamo! WOOT!:cool1:

And LOVING that we can bypass the counter!!!:thumbsup2

What are the deals in the Entertainment Book, if you don't mind me asking? I was thinking about buying one again this year, but I never got around to it.

Thanks!

I've tried to book a minivan through National and Alamo using the Costco code and the Entertainment code. I am a member of both. Each time I get a message saying that my coupon cannot be applied. This has never happened before. The rates are showing @ $1,000 which in crazy! :scared1:

Anyone else have this happen? I have never had a problem before applying codes.

I will probably book through Dollar since it shows a rate of under $300. However, I love the Toyota Siennas we've always gotten through National.

I used DOllar and used the BJ's corporate code which is available even if you dont have a membership just by going to their travel website. (BJ3013)
Got a minivan in Aug for $49 a day.

There are other car rental agencies on their site if you want to take a look.

The corporate codes listed on the above link states that these are exclusively for BJ's members not the general public. Don't be surprise if you are asked to show your membership card.

.

You may actually be getting an inclusive rate with the contract ID, it likely includes the items below that come from the dates we are looking at in September. You probably can't use the coupon with the inclusive rates. We get the same error message about the coupon as you received. Good thing we already have a rate that we booked several months ago.

Concession Fee Recov Chrg 9.8 % Included
Florida Surcharge 2.00/day Included
Tire/battery Fee .02/day Included
License Recoupment Fee .46/day Included
Sales Tax (6.50%) $24.89
Guaranteed Base Rate Included
Unlimited Miles Included

I know what you mean-same problem here.
I also booked through Dollar but Hertz was also reasonable.

You might want to try the OOAG code with Dollar instead, I tried both codes and 'OOAG' saved me another 50.00 on my rental. I just modified the reservation with the new code.

Try let me know how you make out.

Do you need a membership to get that discount for that code (OOAG). I just reserved a minivan for mid August from Dollar (I signed up for their express membership rewards). Estimate total for one week was $375

The OOAG code is a code used in an Orlando / Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau promotion. It can be found in ads in Orlando visitor's guides. You do not need any kind of membership.:cool2:

Thanks. The reason I asked was the rate using that OOAG code was a signifigant savings than any other discount offered for dollar.

thanks so much for the carrentalsavers link! I just used it and got a great deal on a week's car rental from SFB.

I was able to find a compact through Enterprise for 8/23-29 for $145.10 after tax - no special codes or coupons. I checked again today and it's up to $245. Glad I booked it when I did.

The rates have been so crazy for August. I was definitely spoiled last October when we got a compact through Alamo for $90 (including tax) for a week.

I've gotten 8 days for an economy car for $202 after tax through Dollar. I'm renting out of LAX, not Florida...but one thing I've noticed is that if I try to rent for 7 days the rates are much higher than for 8 days.

I've been checking carrentals.com everyday (twice a day) for weeks and I've found my rates have been creeping downward. I hope I can get it as low as $150 after taxes.
