Post your Deal... Rental Car Codes August

That code is for Travel Agents. Not for everyone. a representative on the phone probably wouldn't know if you could use it or not. Calling them is not going to help. It's a questionable code. I did call and was told I had to show ID for that code. I tried 3 different agents. Two said I could use it. The last one said i needed my corporate ID. Not taking my chances.

Its so frustrating these codes. I just called back and asked about the 7014266 code and was told it was a samundo de la something or other code, a Spanish foreign code and that I may or may not be asked for ID upon check in. So nix that one. It would be nice to get a correct answer the first time calling. Back to the drawing board :surfweb:

I just called Alamo back and booked a minivan over the phone using code 7014266 for Aug 16-21. The lady told me if is was a code that was only for certain groups she would have to put in a special ID# to book it for me. I used Entertainment book coupon AF3067JDW(free day). The price including taxes and fees came to $227.07. She said I could book a minivan or SUV for the same price. If you are a Costco member you can use code 7014627 and get exactly the same price. Both codes include an extra driver, unlimited miles and collision damage waiver. This is the second time I have called Alamo asking about code 7014266 and was told the same thing...so this time I booked the minivan over the phone.

This is simply not true. Please don't give misinformation!
I am a Costco member and have used their discount codes many, many times and yes, it does give a free additional driver, (they all give unlimited miles these days) but it NEVER gives free insurance.
Maybe by phone they're telling you it's the same price & perks but online the Costco price is much more than the Spanish code.
These codes are not interchangable.
I know you're new here and just trying to help but most Dis-ers are honest people looking for legitimate discounts that they qualify for. We have seen this happen here time after time. Just b/c their website lets you book it, doesn't mean you won't have to show something at the exit gate and it also doesn't mean that insurance will really cover you.

Use at your own risk and have a back up ressie if you plan to use the 7014266 code.:goodvibes

I am not trying to mislead anyone....I'm very sorry if I did. I was just posting the info I have in front of me that I printed after booking my minivan with Alamo. I have 2 minivans booked with Alamo...one for me and one for my brother, I am a Costco member and I booked using code 7014627 and entertainment coupon AF3067JDW and got a price of $227.07 for Aug 16-31 out of MCO. The Inclusive rate items listed are unlimited distance-time & distance,Collision damage waiver full, guaranteed base rate, 1 additional driver and unlimited miles. My brother is not a Costco member and I booked him a minivan over the phone using code 7014266 with the same coupon and got the same $227.07 price with the same included items listed. I don't know if he will have a problem when we get there but the lady on the phone said anyone could use that code.....I guess we will find out in August. I never meant to mislead anyone with any info...sorry if I did.

Online, I just tried the code 7014627 for my dates of Aug 7-22. Of course, dates could make a difference in benefits such as mileage. This is what it gave me:
Free extra driver
2275 miles free (with extra for each mile after it.)

It did not give :
free UNLIMITED miles
free insurance of any kind

In fact, I have yet to see a normal code (non foreign) that gives free insurance.

Be careful with reservations these days. Not all codes give you free UNLIMITED miles. It is also wise to be careful listening to phone representatives and thinking their word is solid. They LIE to get you off the phone! You can argue all you want at the counter, but saying "Joe on the phone said I could use it", won't get you the discount. It is a sales tactic. Most people won't bother with a backup, so the unsuspecting customer now is standing there in need of a car with no choice but to pay the rack rate.

I booked Dollar for a week compact car for 178.00 total
Hope this is a good rate.

I think in this case it didn't give unlimited miles perhaps due to the length of the rental. I've never rented more than 10 days.

Aug rates are high! I always use Alamo and this trip the cost is 300 MORE than usual! Ya the codes drop it, but I dont want to get stuck either. I sure hope they drop.

Ususally the rates do drop....but this year...:sad2:.

I am watching the rates for my sister who arrives on June 24th and the rates are still outrageous. It is getting close and I am watching everyday. It is not looking good...

I will post if I see the rates finally come down and how close to departure it was. It would be helpful if others would do the same on this thread.

I always use Alamo too and love how convenient it is to go pick your own car but this time we're switching to Dollar with the OOAG code. It cuts about $200 off of Alamo's rate.

I also just called Alamo and the lady said with code 7014266 that its an internet special and anyone who books online can use it. She said that code 7011111 will let you book online, but it is rejected at check in. IHTH

Here's a summary of my recent experiences from older threads:

On our most recent trip, I made 2 reservations, one with 211220, which I used back in Feb. with no problem, and one with 7011111. (Another with Dollar as a backup, which I didn't need to use.)

I tried the kiosk first with the 7011111 code and was told to check in through an agent.

I gave the agent code 211220 first, since it worked for me back in Feb. But this time I was asked for a Puerto Rico drivers license. She didn't give a hoot about phone calls or an email I brought from Alamo saying it was OK to use it.

Then I gave her my 7011111 reservation. The woman read through every detail on her computer screen and she found no problem with this one, which was the same price and same insurance as 211220. She said the only difference between the 2 codes was a second driver fee of $10 a day. She was not too eager to add it though, and told us that if needed it we could always add it anytime during our stay from any Alamo location. She was very nice and did everything she could to help get us the lowest rate.
------------------------------------

Many others have used 7011111 without a problem. But after my experience using 211220 successfully one day (along with many others in older threads where I found this code), then weeks later unsuccessfully, you should bring a backup from another company.

Can you share what codes you used?

I got it from Mousesavers.com

Thank you so much for posting this. I'm always looking for real reports from real people about their actual experience using some of these codes. Your informative post is very much appreciated.

I found that the Best Alamo Rates can be had if you pick up the Car at the Disney Car Care Center instead of the Airport and returning to Airport on the way home (Knocked $198 off the price by going to the CCC, no charge for returning to MCO). I'm taking DME to the Resort, then having the CCC shuttle me to get my Car. I joined the Alamo club, use the Costco Code for Rent 5 days, get one Free (Took $29 bucks off a compact) plus 25% off. I got a Compact for $229 including all those stupid taxes and fees. I went ahead and reserved because so far this is the best deal including National, which for me normally get's better rates using the costco codes.

I'm so appalled at the August prices. Last time I rented a car in August, I got a compact for $98 for the week. I'm in sticker shock. I mean, I don't need a mini-van or an SUV, just a Compact Car to get me from Point A and B and to the airport with 1 suitcase and two carry-ons!!!! I'm still looking everyday. I may have to do the priceline thing when my time gets closer.

Thanks for this tip. I am finding the rates are much better this way also. Whats the CCC shuttle? They do this? Can you tell me more?

THANK YOU! I could only find a van through National rate was $998 for a week.

Then I checked Dollar using Magic Card and OOAG rate is now $371.00

What's with the lack of mini vans for August-everyone seems to be sold out.
