DW & I are having the post trip blues! We got back from our trip on July 14th, but we are finding it tough to not be a little sad that we aren't still on vacation! I know we are spoiled -we have a great trip we just took on which to reflect AND we have a December trip planned (mousefest!). Anyone else go through this? It seems to go by so fast when we are down there! We are working on our trip report now (link below! ) which is bringing back all the great memories. Anyone else battle this?

Yep. It's sooooooooooooooo depressing to come home. Vacation is always great, but I find it even harder to come home from Disney. Just start planning that December trip...that always helps me, planning the next trip. Hang in there, December isn't so far off! :goodvibes

GREAT trip report!!! :thumbsup2
Thanks for the link

as for the post vacation blues - oh yeah....i feel for you..
but the best cure is to hang around here and get into some heavily obsessive compulsive planning.....yup...that always works for me..

actually, right now i'm planning DD's september trip...i have a feeling i'm going to get the blues once she's back from her trip.....no more disney planning...
but no....i can plan the podcast cruise trip....woo hoo...:woohoo:

I think it's weird if you DON'T feel sad when it's all over. But yes planning is the key to keeping the magic going. Search for videos online as well , it's always nice to see a random parade/fireworks, even some of the resorts are fun to watch.
You can always re-live someone elses trip on the Trip Reports board (I'm sure you've been there).

Totally know where you're coming from tho, we're here to help on the Dis - :grouphug:

I know what you mean, I am due to go in 5 weeks but fear the feeling I will have for the month or so after my return home. Its happened on each of my 3 previous trips. All I can say to you is at least you live in the US so that is one aspect that makes it easier for you to go back. Living abroad means you are looking at timescales that are measured in years, not just months before you get your next fix of Disney magic. I am going to soak up every single minute of my time there and will simply catch up on my sleep when I get back!!!

just try your hardest to concentrate on December, it will be here before you know it. December must be close since i see christmas decorations in stores already, right??? :confused3 ;)

We usually don't get to go as often- usually every other year. so i really get depressed post trip. in fact, i sort of 'ban' disney for awhile (after doing my TR!) since i am so distraught. I can't stand to listen to the music or read the boards for a little while. then i come around and start planning my next trip and i am fine.

it's those times when you don't have another trip planned that are the worst.

btw- going to read your trip report now!!!! :thumbsup2 :wizard:

Thanks all! I know this wasn't a unique post as many people go through it, but we really were getting bad. Writing the trip report has been helpful, and I am now catching up on podcasts. Those tend to help me get through the months too!
We bought timeshare at Harborside at the Atlantis, but man did we love BCV this past stay. We told ourselves back when we bought it that "we'll go to WDW anyway, but this will get us to do something else." Well, we've decided we don't want to do something else - we just want to go to WDW every vacation! "Something else" could be the Disney cruise or Disneyland! Now we have this timeshare to sell so that we can buy DVC! We are really all Disney, all the time now! I am afraid when we have children we might just name them Huey, Dewey, and Louie!! :rotfl2:

Anyway, you guys are the best- thanks! I am going to do some more trip reporting tomorrow - can't wait to write about the night at the Adventurer's Club with fellow DISers!!!

Dont you just hate that. At least December is not that far off. I cant wait to read the trip report.:thumbsup2

To tell the truth I don’t usually get the post trip blues right away. I always love the trip but am usually ready to get back to life afterwards. It is about 6 months later that I get anxious to go again. I am looking forward to the new Celebrations magazine to stop the withdrawal shakes when it comes out.

Yup :thumbsup2 Get the blues really bad upon returning home. If it weren't for the DIS it would be much worse tho'. I don't know what it is, except Disney is like a drug and you just go through withdrawals when you can't have it anymore.
Must sound weird to a "non-addict"....although I guess if you're reading this you're addicted

I must say that when I got home in May I was so bummed it was hard for me to get back on the boards!!! I stopped in but didn't stay long or post nearly as much! I believe the best thing is to focus on a project you have around the house. I started painting again it really relaxed me and help me zone out! this might sound bad but it helped me not think I was able to just enjoy creating!:goodvibes

It'll be interesting for me this time as this will be the first time I have the Disboards to post on when I come back. Wonder if that will help me re-adjust to 'normal' life that bit easier. Hope to be able to post on Disboards whilst I am actually at POFQ so that'll be interesting. Who knows what gibberish I will write after 12 hours in a park!

Yes. I get depressed when I have to leave...and my DH wonders what I'm crying about ("You just had a week-long vacation at Disney World!").

Besides planning for the next trip, I try to do little things to make home more magical, and more playful. We spend more time together as a family. I think about things that bring more stress than value to my life, and then get rid of them (well, except extended family. You know.) I play the WDW music more often, review my pictures, record my memories.

After our trip in Jan. 2009, it might be as much as 3 years till we go again, as we're thinking of having one more baby, so it will be doubly hard to leave not knowing when we can return.

And I am SO RELIEVED that I'm not the only person who feels "vacation let-down." At least we can always commiserate on the boards!

I was off the boards for a few weeks after getting home - I am just getting back into it now, hence the trip report going up now (in pieces!). Umm- housework though?? :scared: That's a little drastic, don't you think??

I meant like a project... read the book you bought a while ago, that type of stuff. but honestly for me getting out of the wishing I was still there mode way easier than being sad, so yeah the everyday routine will eventually help cover the longing for being in disney!!

I thought you meant a project, but I had to clarify just in case Mickey_Chic (DW) comes by reading this post. She'll be asking me to vacuum and mow the lawn, saying "Tinkbutt told you to!!!!" :rotfl:
