As a follow-up to post #18 above, we went to see "White Christmas" at the Alabama Theatre today. We got there 40 minutes before the scheduled start and it was hard to find a seat on the floor (the roomiest seats). Seats on the mezz and balcony have less hip room.
They played the organ about 10 minutes past the start time to give the concession line time to work its way down. But the crowd was rockin' and the Wurlitzer organ was playing the tunes.

So Bing and Danny saved the day for their colonel and the folks in B'ham sang along on the final tune with the film's chorus. It was a beautiful setting.
