I just had to run out to the post office to mail my DS12's SAT application. It had to be postmarked by Dec. 22nd, which is Monday, but I wanted to mail it today, just to be on the safe side. What a frenzy at the post office!! :hyper: It looked like there had been a 20-car pile up! At first I thought I had arrived on the scene of a major car accident but then I realized that it was merely the hurried way in which a lot of people had parked and then run out of their cars in order to get inside the post office by noon when they close!!! :p This is a small town and usually there's no problem finding a parking space, or 10. LOL Anyone else notice this happening at the post office near you?? Fortunately I was able to run in and out quickly with my one small envelope. :sunny:

THat's what my local Barnes & Noble parking lot looked like - I had to circle and circle to find someone leaving. Then the line inside to check out..uggh...'tis the season :teeth:

YES!! And at my post office - two little old ladies collided and left their cars right at the entrance/exit of the lot - causing cars to be stuck half in, half- out! The other drivers were honking their horns, waving their hands - the little old ladies were looking at their bumpers (one started to back out and smacked the other), didn't look like either had any damage - but they wouldn't move the cars!!

SeaSpray, welcome to my LIFE!

I make a living on eBay so I go to the Post Office almost every day. Needless to say I've seen a major change in the traffic in and out of them! I don't even bother to go to the Saturday one, it's a nightmare this time of year!

Monday morning was the worse, I think, because the news reported it was the last day to send packages out standard mail to assure they get there by Christmas. What a mess! The line was formed even before they opened!

Ugh I forgot today was Saturday and didn't get up early enough to get there in time. :(

My post office is downtown with a small parking lot on a narrow street! I'm glad we mailed our presents 2 weeks ago! :)

You must live near me!

I had to park at local market and walk down the block. Thank goodness I brought a bag for packages.

Tiggersmom--she is somewhat close to you, but a little further north. I know EXACTLY the PO SeaSpray is talking about, and on a slow day, if you get 2 people parked even a little funny, you're hosed. Add to that if the church across the street is having any activity, and the road becomes almost impassable. But this is how we learn all the 'neato' shortcuts, right SeaSpray???? :hyper: ;)

I too, have been selling "more than part time" on Ebay lately.. and I have gone to the PO everyday for the past month or so.

I have been doing the prepaid route thru stamps.com. I get such dirty looks from people as I walk up put it on the counter and walk out! The lines were out the door the past few days!

LOL That's for sure, Deb! And the church DID have something going on, although I couldn't tell if it was a funeral :faint: or wedding :bride: :groom:.

This afternoon I took DS12 to get a haircut at the barbershop on Union St, near the EB post office, and as I drove past the EB post office, I realized it would've been MUCH easier for me to go to THAT post office. My street is at the end of Union St (the WB end). I really need to remember to just go to that post office from now on. Like you said, even on a good day, the WB post office can be a pain to get in and out of. :scared:

Sooooo much easier. I am amazed at the size of the new Post Office they built for us. And the parking is plentiful. Yep, just buzz down and come visit us. Way easier than trying to get in and out of your PO.

Heheh, yup! Now you know why we tell everyone to 'mail early' this time of year.::yes:: Kim (who looks like this after last week.... )

I was with my frined when she had to stop at the South boston Postal annex at the back of South station and when she went in she was back out in about 10 minutes saying there was a wait of 45 minutes to an hour!!

too bad the PO doesn't have fast pass:rotfl:

I do the eBay thing too and I go to the post office occassionally. It has gotten busy! It was terrible on Monday. The line was out the door, literally! I turned around and went back the next day.

I can guess from the initials the town. Nice to know we aren't the only ones.

We are kind of used to it here. We are a very small section and our PO is only part time so for the 5 hours they are open, it can get busy.

God forbid it is storming and hightide - then hope you have waders.
