I have a Nationwide CC but have decided not to use for our next trip *** the new overseas transactions fees. We have been accepted for both the Post Office and Abbey CC's. Nationwide tended to offer a good rate - (Business Rate). Is there a difference in the Post Office and Abbey?...

Is it a standard Abbey credit card or Abbey Zero? If its the Zero card then no fees, details here the standard card will have fees but couldn't find them on their site.
Nationwide are charging 0.84% now will soon increase to 1%.
I have the Post Office card, no fees just as my Nationwide card used to be.

DH and I both have the Post Office credit card that we use soley for trips to the US. I don't know if there are any differences, but we have always found the PO customer services to be very good too.

I can't understand them, I am useless with Irish accent:rotfl2: rang them yesterday and he was OK but 2 calls before that, both ladies, I struggled. Far easier than the Asian call centres though. I need Yorkshire to be the universal accent.:lmao:

:goodvibes well I must admit we do say "pardon" a lot! but we get there in the end, they are always very willing to help even if you can't understand them! :rotfl:

We applied for the Zero online on 11/6. Was given a reference number. I'd not heard from them in over a week so I called. I was told to wait until today which I did and only to be told that they couldn't find in their system and the reference number means nothing. Then had to reapply over the phone got accepted. However I was hoping to have a card by Thurs 2/7 as our payment is due on that day and Abbey offering 3 months free payment.

I'm not sure to trust them to be honest.....I don't have faith in them they are the ones that messed up...

Last year we did a trip to California and we applied for a zero card as back up to our NW card......they messed up the application so after waiting fo 4 weeks I applied for the PO card with less than 2 weeks for our holiday...the PO card was here in a week and we used it no problem on huliday.

I cancelled the Zero card but they sent it anyway and it arrived whilst we were out of the country...even though I hd told them that we were going away and I didn't want them to send it......bad security...fortunatly a friend who was watching the house collected our mail and kept it for us.

I used the zero card a couple of times but I found customer services to be dreadful so I stopped using it, then I noticed in the small print that there is a fee of £10 if your card is not used for 6 months (dormancy fee I think they called it) so I rang to cancel the card...over 2 months ago and I am still receiving mail from them and the account has not been closed despite numerous calls.

The service from the PO has been excellent and we will use that card when we next are overseas....still have NW but won't use it out of the eurozone any more since they charge now for all other areas.

I have had problems also with other areas of Abbey so I won't use them any more.....no probs at all with PO, the credit limit may be a little lower but sufficient for our needs and extra backup.
