My DS 5m had his first stage repair of his cleft on tues April 11th. they repaired one side of his gums and one side of his hard palate. He has since been refusing to eat his formula. He will take his meds, and some pedilyte. But he will only take a few sips of formula. Has anyone else been through this? Or anyone know what to do? Thank you for all your help!

Hi..my friends dd when going through her surgeries went on similar food jags. She ended up feeding her with a syringe...just kind of squirting a little bit at a time in...I am sure he must be sore and maybe that would help since he wouldn't have to suck?? Best of luck...if in doubt call the craniofacial surgeon...they should be able to tell you some ideas!!! :)

I used the syringe on my dd after cleft palete surgery. And i too ,took a dixie cup and folded it and would kinda pour a little in her mouth of her formula. I remember it took alittle while for her to take her normal amount of formula in..
