Post all SW questions concerns, etc. here...

It’s hard to imagine they are going to make people with mobility issues go to the back of the plane. If this is because they are worried about the system being abused, why not request some type of ADA registration or medical proof of disability when purchasing tickets. If you have mobility issues that would be a dealbreaker for most people.

Since it sounds like the whole plane will be assigned seats, one can choose where they want to sit when they purchase tickets under the new system. If sitting near the front is important for one’s disability, then choose a seat near the front. I have to spend extra $$ regarding my disability all the time, so paying for the seat I need seems no different. Part of the cost of flying.

I keep checking my flight for October, especially now that they advertise "flights from $39 one way" and I know where they are making up the money....from GRR! When I booked back in April, I paid with points for our trip and I got a pretty good deal as the cash-equivalent was about $230 round-trip. That itinerary is now $878! :faint: There is not a single combination that is under $500 round-trip. I am so glad that I have the ability to jump on the lower fares when they come available.

My husband uses medical pre board. After flying today out of MCO, I'm glad seat assignments are coming. I saw ten wheelchairs at one gate. Six at another and when we landed there were seven chairs waiting for passengers coming off our plane. At our departure gate, there were two wheelchairs with more than one companion. One family was a group of three, the other a group of four. All were allowed to board with the chair. Walking preboards were allowed on first. I was surprised. I'm not sure what the correct procedure is, I've seen it done all sorts of ways. My husband can walk. There were two girls late teens, early 20s in front of us. They were first to board the plane. They seemed awfully happy to get on first. They went toward the back of the plane. I don't know what row they picked. I try not to judge a book by it's cover, because you would think my husband is normal, but he's not. With assigned seats coming, my husband doesn't want to be in the back, if an emergency arises. We will pay the upcharge to be in the front.

I have a question about paying with points. My DH and I both have some points, he more than me. Do we have to book separately when using points? Neither of us would have entirely enough, so we would purchase the rest as well. I went in through my DH's account to book and I don't see where I can add mine to the reservation. TIA!

From what I found online, while you can transfer points, you shouldn’t. It appears to cost $5 for every 500 points you transfer. Buying points is also a bad idea because you would spend more on the points than just paying for the flight.

We wouldn't be transferring any points. We would each use our own. Just wanted to see if we can book on the same reservation. Also, it would be cheaper for us with buying the add'l points needed as we have almost enough, just need a little more. I can see what it would cost doing it cash vs points.

Thank you tho!

When I need to use points from 2 accounts, I will book both of us one way tickets on one account and the other way on the other account. That way we are still on the same reservation each way and only have to check in once.

Another question....we fly tomorrow. Booked on day of release and bought EBCI regular wanna get away fare. My Brother in law bought same tickets(WGA) but waited to add EBCI for like a month and we got A44/45 they got A33/34 how's that possible?? Lol
Just quoting myself...we are leaving tomorrow and this time my inlaws who bought EBCI with their tickets got B2/3 and I who didn't buy it right away got A41/42 both same fare type. Something seems weird.

Most likely, the people who originally got A41 & 42 upgraded their seats after they checked in. Your in-laws were in line & checked in after those people & got B2 & 3. You check in at 24 hours & get the first available slots, which were the A 41 & 42 which were open because the other people upgraded. It’s also possible the people who had A 41 & 42 changed flights after the 36 hour mark. Which also also leaves their spots open when you check in.

These days, it is not uncommon at all for that flight to be delayed or cancelled. In many cases, pilots have reached their max hours and the flight is nixed.
Oh geez, really?? We're booked on that flight! How much notice do they usually give if they decide to cancel???

This happened to us when we went on a cruise in March out of Ft Lauderdale. Took them 2 hours to find flight crew. They were preparing us to stay the night at FLL.

Yesterday my kid was on a SW flight that had to have a mechanic sign off on a fix. They had to wait 20 minutes for the mechanic, and by the time he got there, the pilot timed out, so they sat on the plane for 90 minutes before they found a new pilot (could have just as easily been cancelled - which did happen to us on a flight to DC a few years ago. On the plane, entire crew timed out because of a delay. Flight canceled and rescheduled to the next morning.) So, to answer your question the notice could come as you’re on the plane.

I paid the higher fare to be sure I had a seat on the flight I was content with, but I will definitely cancel it if something better comes along. I agree with you that I feel that something is in the works.
I was randomly checking to see if our spring break flight from San Juan dropped in price and I’m happy to say that it did. Not as much as I was hoping but it was cheaper by over $100. We also got back about 14,000 points.
