I see some pet related threads and some cute pet pictures in sig lines. Tell us your pets! Also, what do you do with your furry friends when you travel?

We have an Australian Shepherd MIX named Molly. She is about 2 years old. She was rescued from a city pound (right before she was due to be put down) by a rescue organization. We got her from them. She is funny, playful, and great with the kids. We've had her for a little over a year now.

Molly stays at a kennel when we travel. Our previous dog (had her for over 10 years) used to have a dog sitter come to the house 3 times/day while we were away. She was too nervous around other dogs to leave at a kennel. Molly is more OK at the kennel than she would be home alone.

She wears a Walt Disney World collar and has a bandana that says "My human went to Walt Disney World and all I got was this lousy bandana." :teeth:

I have 2 dogs and 4 cats (2 of them are kittens). One dog, Magic, is about 12-13 years old. We got him when he was about 4-5 years old. He'd been with the rescue organization for a couple years and nobody wanted him. I think he was waiting so he could choose us, as he most certainly did. He's a mutt, but probably has some Australian Cattle Dog in him. We named him Magic because we were waiting to get a dog until after our first WDW trip, so we named him Magic after the MK.

The other dog is 4 years old and her name is Sheena. She was my sister's dog, but my sis had to get rid of him (long story) so my sister drove him from Idaho to Maryland and once we were fairly certain she wouldn't eat my cats she became ours. She has seizures and has turned into an expensive dog with all her labwork that's needed a couple times a year, but she's a sweetie (not so sweet with other dogs, except for Magic).

Here's a picture of the 2 of them and then one of just Sheena.

Here's a picture of Tigger&Belle. There are almost 6yo and were strays adopted at the animal shelter. They are brother sister polydactle (sp) cats.

And here they are as little kittens.

We have a 7 year old greyhound,Chloe, that we got from a group who rescues them from the tracks. She is such a sweetie. She stays at a kennel when we go out of town but we reserve one of the "luxury suites" for her. It's an actual room rather than a run and she does much better in it because she doesn't hear all of the noise and other stuff going on. It's got a doggie door to a private grassy area and webcam so we can check on her. I feel better about leaving her there but I still am always very glad to get home and pick her up!

Well...Jazzy is a 6 year old (birthday 12/30/1999) Brittany Spaniel who loves the snow, the water, and peanut butter. :)
DH bought her from a breeder with the intention of her being his hunting buddy...but..well...she soon turned into a spoiler little dogger! she's our only "baby" and hope to get her a buddy within the next year (hopefully a 4 legged buddy AND a 2 legged one! heheh)

Every night at 9pm she gets a kong filled with peanut butter that has been frozen all day (called her "donger" or "konger"...say the word and she's in front of the freezer waiting for it)

Jazzy also has a disney pets collar, a pooh water dish, and a mickey food dish! Her favorite "stuffed toys that are now reduced to 'shells'" are her Shrek and Eeyore toys. When we leave her she's off to "best friends" kennel...they love her there and she really enjoys the attention from the staff and barking at the other dogs!

She's lovable and fun...pretty obediant...but sometimes a bit "whiney".

And last, but not least, the kittens. They were adopted this fall from a rescue organization. Here's Apollo soon after we got him.

His sister, Venus, is in my signature.

The kitten are little devils. They get into everything, almost knocked a pie of the counter last night, Apollo climbs up me like I'm a tree, and they are terrors, but we love them.

We have a 1.5 Pembroke Corgi named Lobo. If we are going on vacation he stays at a kennel, if we are traveling home to MA he comes with us.

We also have two kitties that are almost four, they are brother and sister and they stay home when we travel. If we are gone for more than a few days then a friend comes in to visit them and make sure the food is there and litter box it cleaned. We are lucky because both of the kitties can free feed and they don't gorge themselves!!

We have a poodle dashund mix that we got from a resuce shelter 3 years ago. Best guess is that he's around 6 years old. We wanted a Disney name for him and finally settled on Goofy since he is such a funny guy. :) When we go out of town he stays at the kennel. Sometimes I feel really guilty about this because he is very shy. :guilty: Last summer while we were on vacation DD and I kept talking about how much we missed him and worried that he was okay. We were only gone for 5 days, and this year we will be making our first trip to Disney World and will be there for 9 days. Hope we don't spend the whole time feeling guilty. Are we the only ones that feel like that?

I have 2 fur babies, Phoebe who is 9 and possibly the fattest beagle ever and Tinkerbell my sweet Jack Russell. We also have 3 feather babies, Sweetie who is a parakeet, Angel the cockatiel, and Buttercup the spoiled rotten African Grey parrot.

Buttercup talks quite a bit and he can amaze most people with how smart he is. He likes to whistle and call the dogs and when they come running he laughs like a maniac. If he sees you eating or drinking he'll say "Is it good, huh?" or "Want a bite" He knows when the phone rings you say hello and in the morning it's "Good Morning" and at night he'll say "Buttercup nite-nite treat" and then he gets a peanut before we cover him up. I love my little "zoo".

Right now, we have 2 yellow labs and 2 cats. Labs are Ginger and Spice, they are 1 year old. The cats are Rusty and Roxy. We did have another Chocolate Lab named Sambuca and 3 other cats, Blue, Jordan and Tigger. But, sadly they are no longer with us, but they were all great pets as the kids grew up.

In my signature you can see my 3 cats. They all are quirky and wacky.

Cleo (on the right) is the oldest. We adopted her from animal rescue. She used to love to be left alone for weeks. She would go out and stay out for weeks at a time. Now that she is older, and senial, she just lays on the couch all day.

Snow (in the middle) is the middle aged cat. He was adopted from the pound. He was a tiny runt and was covered in fleas and worms. He is kind of a bad "cat" though. He can't jump very well, and he can't hunt well. His cuteness makes up for it.

Doodle (on the left) is the youngest. Well his real name is Max, but I call him Doodle. He was brought to NY from Vermont. He was a barn cat. He really was rescued because shortly after we got him the barn he used to live in was sold and the new owners got "rid" of all the cats. Very sad.

I also have a dog Ally. She is a Belgian Malanois. Once I get a good picture of her I'll post it. She is beautiful and too smart for her own good. I have never had a dog as smart as her.

My whole family has never been away all at once since I've had Ally. Our old dog would go to the pound and the cats would stay home while a friend looked after them. I don't know where Ally would go because she doesn't like other dogs. :sad1:

We have one kitty and her Biblical name is Pretty Precious Princess Peaches princess: aka Lovey Girl. She literally showed up on our doorstep one day at the age of 2 1/2 months with a broken foot and terrible ear mites.

We had to keep her in a cage for 10 days in our kitchen and only handle her with big thick work gloves for fear of rabies per the health dept. (like that would of done any good :lmao: ). We live in a very wooded area of NY state and have at least one rabies attack a year. After 10 days, out she came, off to the vet, and she has been our baby ever since. She is a muted calico which means only the tip of her hairs have color. She is a joy to us. We are so whipped by this cat. Our son is 17 so she has become our little girl, a bit friekish I guess, but she's a cutie :cat: !

In my siggy is Daisy, a 3 1/2 y.o. husky/? mix, we rescued her from the pound 3 years a go. She is our 'princess'!! We went to Disneyworld for our honeymoon, we got so homesick for her, that we left a day early. We got up at 4 am, looked at each other and decided that we 'needed' to get back home to her!! We took off from the WL at 5 am and drove STRAIGHT through just in time before the kennel closed. We walked I and were exhausted from driving ALL DAY...it was 8 pm at this point. We couldn't wait to see her, just knowing that she would be sooo lonely. Well, that wasn't the case. She was lying down on her bed with Animal Planet on, chewing her bone. Granted this was a very nice kennel....each dog had their own room with a toddler bed, a TV, and private walks. Yes, we paid out the wazoo for her to stay in the lap of luxury. Next time her Granny will be watching her new brother, Leo. Leo, is a 10 y.o. male poodle. My DH got him as a dowery(sp?) from my mother when we returned home from our disneymoon. She moved into a condo and couldn't take him with her.
They are wonderful and my furbabies!!

I currently have only 2 kittens and 2 terrapins. I used to have 8 cats but sadly they have all passed away. Seven from old age and one was hit by a car.

I said I wasn't getting anymore because it hurt so much when they passed away. My friend at the Humane Society called and begged me to come and see two Siamese kittens that were 6 weeks old and had had a really tough beginning. I did and 7 months later I still have them. They are Minnie and Wendy and a real joy (most of the time).

Francis and Rubberneck are the terps that we have raised since right after they hatched. Fran we got in July 1999 and Rub we got in June 2000.

Awww, I love seeing all the dog and kitty pics!! They are so cute.

I have two cats. Luxor who is all black and Rio who is orange and white. I want a third but would have to get a divorce to do it since DH says no way! :teeth:

what would you name the 3rd?
MGM?
Palms?
Mirage?
Belagio?

heheheheh

(uh - the Rio is a Vegas hotel...right? otherwise, this post makes no sense)

We have 2 labs - one a purebred yellow named Mulligan, aka "Mully." He's 4 years old, and still not the smartest dog on the block, but he is the best with kids. Such a lump.

The other is a black lab/border collie mix named Mookie, aka "Mooks, or Mookiebear". We've had her since college, she's almost 11 now. Best dog I could hae ever asked for. (Notice the screename?) She's fatter than anything I've ever seen, but no matter how much she runs (a lot!) or diets (a lot there too!) she still looks like a fat barrel. :p

Then there is Murphy, aka "Big Murf". He's our black cat that we rescued a little over a year ago. He's a total love, and a really great cat, especially for someone that was a little hesitant to bring a cat into the family. He somehow sensed this and has become my little buddy. (And he loves driving the dogs nuts around midnight!!) :yay:

My furry family members are Mac and Tipper. I have no clue how to post a picture, so just take my word that they are cute.

Mac is a 10-year-old black Scottish Terrier. We got him when he was a puppy. He truly understands me--sometimes better than my hubby! Mac is strong-willed and independent, but if I am sick he will not leave my side. He is a very sympathetic soul. He loves everyone. Right now his fav. toy is a blue and white squeak toy--it might be a mouse, or a pig, or a bear--not sure but my puppy loves it.

Tipper is an 8-year-old black and silver brindle Scottie. We adopted her from the SPCA when she was 4. Her owner passed away and Tipper was homeless. We were the family honored with bringing her home. Tipper was very timid when we brought her home, but she has come out of her shell. She is very much a snotty Scottie and hates anyone outside her family. She is my little lap dog and will sit with me for hours. She is whiney and clingy--basically the opposite of Mac! But they work very well together.

When we vacation, we drive a state away to leave them with my mother. I cannot bear to board Tipper since she was kenneled for 6 months when her owner was ill. I love these two doggies so very much.

We have an 8 year old border collie / golden retriever mix. He is a beautiful blonde boy! His name is Austin and we adopted him from the Humane Society when he was 10 months old. He still acts like a puppy! I've heard that the border collie in him will never slow down.

Here's an older picture of him (he still looks the same, just a little more white on his nose):

We also have a fish named Pelican and a hermit crab named Lobster, but they aren't as cute!
