Post a Picture of Your Camping Setup at Other Campgrounds!!

We loved staying at that park...the only downfall was no air conditioning in the bath houses.

I can’t believe I didn’t see this thread sooner – I love looking at other’s photos from the places they’ve been for ideas. I’ll have to share some of our photos.

This year we've been thoroughly utilizing our season passes to Kings Dominion (in Doswell, VA) and camping at least once a month at their “Camp Wilderness” We’ve been assigned Site 182 the last 3 trips- I like this section of the campground the sites are great if you camp with friends as they are all awning to awning sites.

I have no idea what goofy DS was up to.

Utilities are shared with neighbors to your back.

Morgan RV Resorts, May's Landing , NJ 5/14-16/10
We were in site K-10 but were camping with a group of 6 other families and were able to set up a group fire ring in the center of all the sites. I had read reviews that these sites were tight and they were but since we were with a group it didn't matter. We booked under their $15 a night Spring Special so we couldn’t beat the rates. I know they are in the process of changing over to a NASCAR RV Park but this place didn't impress me much. There was a playground, pool (not in season) and mini-golf (very run down) along with a basketball court and the kids had fun at the scheduled activities but the sites were tight and had we not been camping with a group of friends I doubt we would have enjoyed our stay. It took us less than 30 minutes to get to Atlantic City from here.

Yogi's Jellystone Park, Luray, VA 10/29-31/09
Site 139
Hubby wasn't very fond of this site as it had a small yard and so did the site behind it (luckily they were our friends) compared to the other sites around us but it didn't really bother me at all.

This is site 138 (our friends behind us)

Luray Caverns is about 10 minutes down the road and Skyline Drive is about 10 minutes in the opposite direction

Hocking Hills KOA - Logan, Ohio 10/8-11/09
Site # 11

and a different view from the hayride a row over -

The campground was really nice, clean and the sites were large. The kids enjoyed the scheduled activities but the real draw of this area are the 5 sections of the state park.

Cedar Falls

Ash Cave

Old Man's Cave

trail to lower falls

lower falls

exit trail from lower falls

Old Man's Cave - later the same day

upper falls

cave kids

Conkle's Hollow - it was later in the day so very dark down in the gorge

.

Rock House - by far I think the worst for anyone with a fear of heights

on the trail -

looking out/down one of the windows of the rock house -

inside walls of the rock house

I think this is looking out a window - my DS11 took all these photos since I was too scared to attempt to go any further than the trail to the rock house - are those people nuts there on the cliff

Natural Rock Bridge

look at how narrow this is in the first spot

looking up from under the "bridge"

We also did a trip on the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway

Robbins Crossing

And we also attended the Bob Evans Farm Festival - it was rainy and muddy but we had a great time - http://classic.kodakgallery.com/ledmanfamily/camping/hocking_hills_ohio (just posting the links to my kodak site b/c there are too many great photos to choose a few to post here

Patapsco Valley State Park - Ellicot City, MD (second weekend in September every year)
Site Number 401
We stay here when we attend DS's 4-H shooting sports compitition upstate.

In 2009 we visited the Orange Grove area - it's about 20 minutes from the Hollifield camping area. We walked across the suspension bridge and also hiked the trail to Cascade Falls - I'm sure it's clearly posted somewhere and I just missed it but if you want to see the falls take the first left when the trail splits - the right will send you very high up on a mountain with 3 river crossings (from personal experience - I don't advise anyone attempting this with a 2 & 3 year old but they were troopers and for some reason loved it.)

Hiking upward

water crossing on the boulders - yes that is the trail blaze marker on the boulder meaning you must cross here

smaller waterfall uptrail

Cascade Falls - surprisingly not as "full" as I had expected especially after 2 days of rain

Hershey High Meadow Campground, Hershey, PA
July 16, 2009
Site 156
Sites in this area are tight. Luckily we were again camping with friends. Nice pool and every other day there were scheduled activities at the campground. Loved the shuttle service to Hershey Park.

Hagerstown KOA
July 18, 2009

Sites were not large (we fit but not as spacious as I like). There was a pool and you could go canoeing and fishing in the river.

Bull Run Regional Park - Centreville, VA
July 3, 2009
Site 124

large pull thru - electric hookup on passenger side - strange set up - needed extension cord.

great playground and waterpark

Natural Bridge Yogi
6/12-15/10
Site 101

love this site - it's on the main road to the upper section of this campground but I love the field in front of this site - 102 & 103 also share this field.

There's a water park and spray ground that are an extra cost

and it's extra to play mini-golf as well

Theres also a pool and swimming pond. There's a platform in the middle of the pond where you can jump and on the water's edge they have a plastic playset for the little kids - along with a sand beach

These activities are on the lower section of the campground near the camp store and river. In the upper section there is a playground

I love this picture of DS - and obviously they do too as it's used in a lot of their advertising publications:confused3

We didn’t visit the Natural Bridge on this trip but did when we went 2 years before. On this trip we did visit the Virginia Safari Park – we choose to ride the wagon vs. driving our truck through.

And we also found a local swimming hole – Arnold Valley - note this was very much off the beaten path and took a little searching for but was very much worth it for the secluded fun we had. A little further down the fireroad we had a picnic lunch and the kids played in the stream some more. Here there’s a swimming hole that is freezing cold but you can jump from the upper rocks or slide down the waterfall/waterslide

Pohick Bay Regional Park – Lorton, VA
5/29-31/09
Site 65

Nice full hook up site backing to open play field

open play field area – looking from bathhouse

Pool Area - pirate theme

there is also a disc golf and mini-golf course here

Point Lookout State Park – Scotland, MD
5/1-3/09
Site 79

This state park is close to home for us and since they have full hook up on the tulip loop we love it there. The mosquitoes take the place over most summers but we usually visit early spring or late fall and haven’t had a real problem.

Point Lookout Lighthouse – said to be very haunted – open to the public the first weekend of the month April – October – check the dates I could be wrong.

Playground – not near the campground – you’d have to walk about .5 a mile or drive to it.

There’s also a beach area near the playground where you can swim.

And a fishing pier across the street from the playground.

And on the subject of point lookout here’s from our October 2008 camping trip
Site 61

Fort Lincoln – Point Lookout is very rich in civil war history.

And there are tons of trails to walk and a little museum about the civil war and some Chesapeake Bay ecology stuff.
