Possible to rent Poly points for November?

Hi, everyone! We are new to the DVC world, but I have a request in at the rental store to rent points for Poly for November 15-18. We will be doing a split stay if this works out, due to lack of availability at Poly for our full stay. We are fine with any other resort for Nov 13-15, but would really like the 15-18 portion to be at Poly. We would like to rent a standard view studio.

The rental store updated to the new request 3 days ago. Any chance this will happen? I know October-January are very busy. We were just at WDW in Oct 2019 and stayed offsite but would love to stay onsite and go in November to see some of the Christmas decor.

Also - has anyone had a request in with both David's and Rental Store at the same time? Wondering if this is a good strategy. Do either of them automatically book you when they find something, or will they contact us first for us to confirm the reservation? Thank you!

I’ve used David’s before and they will automatically book or you will forfeit the down payment if you don’t proceed with rental. As far as those dates at Poly, always a chance, but it’s busy with holidays approaching.

If anyone sends you a message on the DIS offering this, know that there are scammers targeting posts like this, and they're violating board rules. Back away slowly and report them.

The waitlist for fall Poly points is immense. It might happen. Or it might not.

Good luck. I tried for 4 nights in Oct. last month and was told there were only three properties available for my dates. Not Poly. Late to the party I guess but hopefully you’ll get lucky.

I think that had more to do with the broker not having a Poly owner lined up than it had to do with availability. Poly has only a few scattered nights that are not open in October. Dealing directly with someone who owns at Poly would likely get you the nights you want.

They had specifically said no dvc allocation rooms were available and didn’t offer to waitlist me. So my assumption was that they check rooms first and then points owners. I got that answer within minutes. And there was no discussion of having most nights available vs all. We are coming up on the 7 month window which should open points holders from other resorts, correct? But I didn’t see the point if all the owner allocations were gone already.

They’re not gone. I don’t own at Poly but I can see what’s available there. Only a few nights in October are booked up. You must be looking for four nights that include a sold out night (Oct. 6 is a DVC Moonlight Magic Night, studios are booked up throughout DVC for that night).

Could be that the ‘full’ dates you reference are in there. But if not, should I put my rental request in now since we are approaching 7 months? If a room is available, would you expect that there are a lot more owners who can use points from other resorts at that point?

The entire four nights starting 10/8 are not available. The weekends are gone.

The 7 month window is not really a rental solution for October. If there are units at 7:59am, there won't be at 8:01. As a renter in October you are either booked during home resort or not getting Poly.

Thanks for helping me understand the process. Special thx Deb for taking the time to check that availability. We are booked for cash and will do like we always do....close our eyes when the resort bill comes and enjoy it.

We really are not supposed to research specific availability for non-owners. Otherwise, the board would be flooded with requests and, truth be told, availability is fluid. What’s available this morning could be gone by noon.

Just look at it this way: Marathon weekends are very popular with DVC members. F&W weekends are very popular with DVC members. Holiday decorations are very popular with DVC members. Your weekend is the perfect storm of all three.

PVB points are really difficult to come by. I list with David's and my PVB points were immediately taken, and they constantly ask if I have more. In fact, I might have gotten your request as they pinged me last Monday for 118 poly points.

That being said, I'd actually recommend browsing through the rental threads on this board. I know based on the demand that in the future I probably won't list with David's and get $14.50/point when I could rent it out on here and get closer to $18/point given the high demand. And to head off the question, I'm fresh out of PVB points until 2022.
