Is it possible to have an actual refrigerator rather than the beverage coolers in the all star room. I have medicine and food that needs to be in a refrigerator at cooler temps than the beverage coolers in the all star hotel rooms.

You can call housekeeping or ask at check-in. Let them know its for medical needs. There is no guarantee as they have a limited number.

Question here - SO..... limited number of frigs... with no guarantee question.

NORMALLY - I'm just fine with the beverage cooler. But this time - I may be temporarily still on a medicine that requires refrigeration. So - a real medical need. Has anyone NOT been able to get one?

I chat with my doctor later this week and my internet research suggests we could possibly switch to a different drug - but its all complicated so maybe not.... I really don't want to have to increase the cost of my trip to a room with real refrigerator as that's a HUGE price difference and since this isn't a normal situation for me - not one I am used to coping with. And I go next week!!!!

What's the difference from a beverage cooler to a refrigerator? I didn't know they changed to these at the world

You can't trust a beverage cooler (at least the ones at Disney) to keep things at or below 40 degrees. Refrigerators typically operate around 34-39 degrees.

Why not call the hotel now to ask? Perhaps a note from your doctor stating the necessity would help if they have none available. I suspect they could provide if needed.

That's because beverage coolers aren't meant to go below 40. The only medicine I have taken to Disney is amoxicillin and my doctor said it would be fine in a beverage cooler as long as the temp stayed between 36-45.

just In case you can’t get one, I’d bring several ziplock bags. Double bag some ice, put in a few spots in cooler.

Yeah... I wish. The bottle says 35-40. Hoping I can switch to a pill. Right now I have to take the liquid such that I'd HAVE to come back to the resort mid-afternoon. Now - given the heat I am probably going to do that anyway... but at least with a pill I will have a choice. Cross your fingers for me!

You used to be able to store cool items at the med centers in the parks or was that just the infant centers? Is that still possible. Could you get an extra bottle with the Rx from your pharmacy and then put one dose in it to keep at the First Aid Station Fridge.

The beverage coolers are less powerful. I left a room-temp can of soda in one for two nights and it never really warmed up.

I believe you still can but it's at the first aid centers not infant center which are usually attached so if you find one you'll find the other. The first aid center are staffed by nurses which can give you over the counter meds and band aids. They also could store/refrigerate medicine. The medicine has to be in it's original prescription container and I believe they also verify with your ID. I'm not sure how they would verify for children.

A few years ago a friend of mine stored her insulin there while we were at the parks but Disney policies change constantly so just double check before assuming. They have privacy screens/rooms so if you prefer privacy you have it.
