to California with the WHOLE family i.e sister, sister's partner, nephews and mother and if we do go that means I get to go to DISNEYLAND :cheer2::cheer2:

I haven't been to Disneyland since I turned 21 and that was a looooong time ago ;)

How great!

We went last year - our very first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. We want to go back to see the newly built carsland.

We read threads comparing WDW and Disneyland and put us off a little, but once you're there - no comparison. Both are fantastic in their own rights.

Its been a long time since I was 21 too! LOL

Have a fantastic time :thumbsup2

fan daby dozy!

We were thinking of doing that as well. We want to do a bit of a tour but without doubt NEED to take in the new Cars Land it looks fantastic.

Might see you there:)

We're thinking of flying into LA then driving straight down to San Diego to spend 5/6 days there. Then drive back up to LA and go to Disneyland AND CARS LAND :yay: Then fly up to San Francisco to spend 5/6 days there and fly home.

Ohhhhh So Cal DISmeet how trendy :rotfl2::rotfl2:

how many days are you giving yourself in disneyland/DCA?

we were there for 4 days and definitely needed every bit of that!!

also, i would suggest staying onsite....makes it much easier..

Well as we're going with my sister and her family and they sooooooo don't get our Disney fascination :confused3:confused3 it will be 2 days maybe 3 if I can really push it. We'll be staying in Hilton Hotels for the whole trip as my sister works for them and so we'll be availing ourselves of thier wonderful staff discount :woohoo::woohoo:

Sounds wonderful, I'm sure you'l have an amazing time.

On our Cali trip we started up north in SF then drove down Highway 1 stopping off at different places for 3/4 days at a time. We did'nt get as far as San Diego tho :confused3 maybe next time.

Disneyland was great the castle was a bit of a shock though, even though I had seen photos and people had said it was a lot smaller I did'nt think it would be that small :goodvibes

Happy planning

is there a hilton that's near the park? one of the partner hotels maybe?
i think there is (i'm pretty sure that DH stayed there one year for a conference...i'll go check).

it's just much easier if you're in anaheim - LA is a BIG city with BAD traffic...
so if you can stay near the parks, you'll be better off...

oh and yes, the castle is a shock....every time we were in its vicinity the kids would say "oh - there's the castle, DON"T LOOK AT IT"...yes we were shocked by that castle, that's for sure!!!

ok - i just asked DH - he stayed at the Hilton Anaheim, which is just a block from disneyland/DCA (in the convention center area)..

if you can, you should stay there....being any further away from DL/DCA will just further irritate your non-disney family...
LA is a terrible place to get around!!!

I'm editing this post to add a link to the hilton anaheim

http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/california/hilton-anaheim-SNAAHHH/about/index.html

i see you can even upgrade your room to a disney view - that's how close you'll be

and if hilton is too expensive, i'm sure the less expensive hotels that are part of the hilton group are also nearby....
i just looked, in addition to the hilton (which is the closest) there is also a doubletree, hampton, hilton garden and homewood - all part of the hilton chain

We're also planning on California next summer, but in the opposite direction to yourself plus three or four days on the Pacific Coast between SF and LA.
