Possible reason why neighbor's car alarm is intermittently going off in the dark?

That makes you and possibly two other people that would do that. Today having one of those is an absolute waste of money. There is no single automotive extra that is so universally ignored then a car alarm. We all listen, occasionally glance toward the offending vehicle and continue on with whatever we were doing. It's mostly because there are probably 1000X more false alarms then real ones.

It may not be a good idea but this is what happened in my parents mhp. If it is an elderly neighbor who's car alarm is going off I would check on them.

Possibly the car battery is nearly kaput? I know for the alarm system in the house before we lived here, there's a motorcycle battery that powered the alarm system if the power went out, but when the battery's useful life is over the alarm system would beep. Maybe the same for a car?

I know on our company cars that an alarm going off like that usually means the car needs a new battery......usually when they start doing that, you can't start them without jumping them.

Oh lord, DS when he was 2 got a hold of the portable panic button for our home burglar alarm.....DW couldn't figure out why the alarm....which was turned off.......was getting turned on and then set off ..... she called me at work. I asked her if DS had the panic button, she had forgotten we even had it!

I had a car once that everytime it got above 90degrees & humid the airbag would swell making the horn go off!! It was so annoying. The neighbors hated me!
