Possible New Resorts!

I for one, don't like either. I love the HM, but not that concept art.
What I really don't understand is all this branding; what happened to subtle Disney touches? And maybe I'm in the minority here, but I go to PORFQ to feel like I am in New Orleans. If I want to ride the HM I'll go to the MK.
To some extent, I agree with you. That's why CBR has lost its appeal for me; I'm not enamored of the pirate look. But personally, I'd probably still do the HM!

You don't have to stay in a pirate room at CBR, you have the choice to. I don't care for the pirate theme either but it doesn't make me like CBR any less. I'll just choose to stay in a regular room. I would love it if they would give me the option of staying in the HM or Royal room since that does appeal to me. I think it's very smart to only do some of the rooms that way though.

I can't see any photos (or even placeholders) in these posts, is it just me? Perhaps it's a case of Emperor's New Rooms :) but if not, could someone repost them please? Thanks.

[EDIT: Don't worry, I found the same photos at the Orlando Attractions magazine website, and then they re-appeared here too. Odd!]

Did anyone happen to capture the descriptive text about the potential Royal rooms from the survey pages?

Andre

I agree with you. A whole new moderate-YES!
Themed room decor for existing moderates (at a higher price) NO!

personally I would like them to just make sure that all the non themed rooms are more comfortable and upto date. A themed room would send my around the bend if I was staying for more then 2 nights, which I always do. why not go for an ellegant room making sure the furnishing and mattrases are all top notch, after all how much time do you actually stay in the room. I hear that the pirate themed rooms at the Carribean beach are VERY uncomfortable! The beds are susposed tobe extremely bad. I would worry that they would concentrate on making the rooms look good over anything else.

We would love the Royal themed room :goodvibes

As long as it still has the refigerator - which I did not see in the picture.

But we do like buidling #4 abd #5 at POFQ,
It will be our first time at a moderate - sorry we were deluxe snobs, but have been downgraded by the economy (and the loss of my job)

POFQ seems like the best resort for our family :woohoo:- DH, DW in our 50's - the resort is easy to walk around, and the boat to DTD fits our DS age 19 and DD age 16. The pool is not a biggie with us. A quick swim in the AM once in a while is fine for us. We are at WDW to see the Parks - not to go swimming. We have a pool in our yard at home to swim in. ;)

Actually, this has got me thinking about why Disney submitted their work permits for the room renovations at Port Orleans in several batches.

They first submitted a permit for POFQ building #7, then permits for Riverside AB #24 & Parterre Place (#95), and most recently (so far) for all of the remaining buildings (1-6) at French Quarter.

Could this perhaps point to there being some difference in the work they plan to carry out at POFQ #7, AB #24 & Parterre Place as compared to the rest of the resort I wonder?

Or am I just adding up two and two and getting about 17?

No, I think that is spot on!

CBR put its Pirate rooms in the furthest village (Trinidad South) from the food court and pool area, which was a genius way in filling those rarely requested rooms. POFQ #7, Parterre Place and AB #24 at POR are the furthest buildings in those resorts from the food court/pool area and making those themed rooms would be a great way to keep them filled. Makes perfect sense to me!

I hope this is true because I would love to stay in one of the Haunted Mansion rooms at POR! How much fun would a Halloween stay be in one of those rooms?!

I'd pay 3 times what I usually pay to visit Disney to stay in a Haunted Mansion resort :goodvibes and I'd definately pay more to stay in one of those HM rooms but I think they need a bit more going on, like someone else said get a ghost in the mirror

I have my eyes set on POR, so if the Royal room is an option there in a few years, I might really be tempted to upgrade to that:goodvibes!! The HM rooms don't interest me at all... but I can see where some would enjoy them.

I wouldn't mind the HM theme if they incorporated some of the accents from the ride. The glowing footsteps is pretty cool. Or how about a mirror that shows some hitchhiking ghosts :rotfl: Instead of maybe hitchhiking they could be brushing your hair or your teeth :rotfl2: I'm sorry, I'm thinking too into this.....

To the poster who said about a cemetery pool...now that would be awesome!

Great ideas! Can I get:

Hitchhiking Ghost to project into my doom buggy bed?

Stretching pictures?

Ghost wake up calls?

I really like both of them, but I would LOVE to stay in a haunted mansion themed room or even better stay at a haunted mansion themed resort. That would be so awesome! I would reconsider my resort choice if the HM theme was an option.

Before I saw the pictures I was all for the HM theme and not the Royal theme. But now....wow! those royal theme pictures are gorgeous! They look almost, if not better than the rooms in some of the deluxe resorts.

I agree that these concepts look really nice... I just hope that all the details actually make it to the final stages and they don't cut corners. The Pirate rooms turned out really nice, but compared to the drawings you can see a lot of the details went unrealized.

I really like the Royal Theme the best. I think it's cute and like the Disney character appearances- the mice in the wall, the Tiana portrait, Cogsworth, etc. I kind of doubt that the bed will turn out as "grand" as it is in the drawing or else as PrincessAmy said it looks nicer than a deluxe! :cutie:

I'd also be pleasantly surprised if the wallpaper, the ceiling mouldings and the door matched the art, too.

Just wondering, someone noted that permits had been pulled for POFQ, does anyone know when work there is suppose to begin and when it could be complete, thinking about going back Nov '11, and was planning on staying there.

I am actually glad that Disney decided that "branding" is something that a lot of people expect when they go to Disney. I'm sure the kids don't get some of the themes of some of the resorts.... and neither does my husband! :) If it's not screaming Disney why not stay anywhere? I love these new ideas! Especially the Royal one! Can't wait to see them happen! :flower3:

Not starting before October 2010 at POFQ as far as we can find out, and the work will take several months to complete all rooms. Check out my Port Orleans website (www.portorleans.org) for any further info I come across.

Received the same survey and I think all the options sound exciting and fun!! I love the way themes evolve as it shows Imagineering is truly listening to the input they receive.:thumbsup2 Thanks for letting me participate!!

I would absolutely stay at the HM no matter what level of hotel as long as it could accommodate the size of my party!! Just think of the possibilities if it were a new resort--the lobby, the dining, the pool, the grounds etc.--ok--I guess I would enjoy working there too!! Can you even imagine Halloween??:yay::yay:

Keep up the great work Disney and we'll keep coming!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

P.S. Someone spoke of the Tower of Terror theme--great possibilities as well:wizard:

I think the Haunted Mansion sounds interesting, but it would be even better if they made the Hollywood Tower Hotel instead. I would stay there! (But maybe I would use the stairs instead of the elevator). ;)

I would love them to re-create a Hollywood Tower of Terror Hotel, they would save on housekeeping for the lobby areas and as long as the rooms were clean. This is quite a concept. Good idea, send it on to the survey people. They could put it on a monorail outside DHS.

That Royal Theme would get me over to Port Orleans, definitely. DBF is going to be the target of some serious begging! :rotfl:
