Possible DVC Newbie with Questions

I have been addicted to Disney for the past 16 Years. I have gone once sometimes twice a year. We just got back from our trip about a week ago and after seeing the DVC everywhere started talking about it as we always do - wondering if it's really worth it. So, when I got home - I got online and requested information which I received yesterday. We spent all day crunching numbers and are pretty interested in joining. We just have a few questions.

1. Can the points increase over time or do they have to stay at their current value? Meaning if a resort requires 11 points now - will they still require 11 points 10 or 20 years from now for that same room?

2. How soon after purchasing your membership can you use your points? I already have a trip planned for November. Can I book a room with my points for that trip?

3. How soon do you need to make reservations? Do the rooms fill up pretty quick or is it pretty easy to reserve a room with only a few months till the trip?

4. I've seen reference to people saying that when they bought that they received a certain unit. Are you reserving a certain unit and only use that certain unit?

5. How hard is it to book at other resorts other than your home resort - like if I wanted to stay at BW or BC, etc.?

6. What is this about up to a $1,200 credit if I purchase now? Is this different than the $1,500 credit for financing?

7. How does it work with Mousekeeping? I've seen reference to their being no daily mousekeeping at DVC Homes. Do you have to wash your own towels? It's no big deal not having my room cleaned - but how does that work with towels?

8. Is it a real pain to Bank or Borrow points? Or is it really easy to do? From what I gather you need to do this before your Use Year is up or you loose them? Would my use year end in August if I purchase now?

That is all the questions I can think of right now - I'm sure I'll have more later! I can guarantee I will.

1. The points can change but not the total for the room . So if they raise say the date of 7-31 from 11 to 12 point then they would have to decrease 1 point from another day.So the 365 day total points for that room can not change but can be moved around.

2.It depends on close and use year but they will be able to tell you that right away.

3.This really depends as DVC busy times are not really Disney busy times and yes some fill up at the 11 month mark you have to do day by day to assure for some room types during peak times.

4.No but some like certian rooms and Request that room each time.For the most part your room is not assigned until you check-in.You are shown as owner of a unit for paperwork purpose only.

5.Again it depends on the time of year and type of room (buy where you want to stay most of the time)

6.These things change all the time your guide can give you the details of whats avail when.

7.Mousekeeping does Towels & trash on the 4th day and full service on the 8th day.
1,2 and GV's have washer&dryer .For studios they have W & D at all pool locationd free to use just need detergent.Then you can pay to have many types of Mousekeeping as well as an extra set of towels all for fees but not to bad.

8.Borrowing is no problem as you have the points you can borrow them . Banking you have to do by certian times or yes you lose them (neber a problem here as I always have my next trip planned). But the system is easy all with just a call.

I just wished we could have afforded or just bit the bullit 7 years ago but thats OK we are very happy with SSR stayed our first time and have 2 moreplanned.

You have it backwards. If you stay 7 or fewer nights, you get towels replaced and trash removed on day 4. If you stay 8 nights or more, you get a full cleaning on Day 4 and trash and towels on day 8.

Not all the washers and dryers for studios are at the pool. VWL, BWV and BCV are located within the building. BWV on the 1st floor past the elevators. BCV on the 4th floor near the elevators. Not sure about VWL exact location.

In reference to the towel situation: Approximately how many towels do they provide you with? Is it only 4 like the resorts - or do they give you more? I would hate to have to worry about washing every single day! That would be a bummer!

In a studio and one bedroom, you get four bath towels, two hand towels and four face cloths. The occupancy for these is 4 or fewer.

In a two bedroom, you get 8, 4 and 8. Occupancy is 8.

In a grand villa, you get 12, 6 and 12. Occupancy is 12.

After we use our towels, we hang them up to dry, just like at home. Then we use them again the next day. If they get dirty, we wash them. We usually get a one or two bedroom with the washer and dryer in the villa. Studios don't have washers and dryers in them, but there are laundry rooms that are free for those guests to use.

Most start at 4 .

What we are doing in the studios' is for a 7 night stay is getting 1 set of extra towels $6 and 2 extra T & T $10 each so for $26 we will be OK for the week and not have to do any wash if we don't want to .Or we might just get 2 extra sets of towels I sort of liked not having someone in our room everyday.
