Possible Changes at LeCellier

Any current news on this subject? I'll be making my ADRs for January soon and just wondering.

I have a reservation for January 3rd at 5:30. I'm interested to see if a.) we're able to keep the reservation and b.) if it lives up to the hype. Never been there before. :)

My family and I went to Le Cellier twice during the week of June 19th and June 26th. We asked the waitress if it was moving to Signature status and she asked where I heard it from. I told her some of the chat boards and she confirmed it is true. As of 1/1/11, Le Cellier will be a Signature restaraunt. She claims they will be making it much more upscale with a new menu, tablecloths etc..

Ugh - not what I wanted to hear :sad2:

Thanks, that's what I'm hearing too. I thought it was strange that it is letting folks book for January 2011, but still listed as 1TS. I just wonder when it will become official. I was going to book lunch only so that the price would be more reasonable than dinner. Not having a new menu is a pain. I guess it wouldn't hurt to book lunch and dinner since it is a 2 week trip. I'm not doing the ddp, so it really doesn't matter to me as long as they take TiW.

My guess is that if they are moving to signature it would be officially anounced when the dining plans are announced for next year- because after all signature dining only means something to the dining plan.

I agree too that if they are going to make the change they should make it at the new year. Usually late fall I've see then next's years dining plan list. I'm hoping they hold off on the change till then, because I have a ADR for Sept 25. Changing it to 2 TS will annoy me as well as mess up my week full of ADR's. I realize I can pay OOP at a restaurant later in the week, but I signed up for DDP the way it was. I never dreamed that they'd want to make changes in the last quarter of the year.

So here's to hoping!!!

OP here....I did clarify that the changes are planned for January 2011.

Does that mean it's closing for refurb Jan '11 or it will be ready to go as a signature in Jan '11?
We're heading down 1/22-1/30 so inquiring minds want to know!

That's the big debate at this point. Word has it there's a budget to upgrade the restaurant but nobody knows when and for how long it will take! I can't imagine they'll close for long....just the fact that they employ CRP's from Canada who I don't believe can work anywhere but the Canadian Pavillion would make things tricky if they close for any length of time.

It is the fact that people can't easily get a reservation for this restaurant that makes it so popular. It is the inability to easily get a reservation that creates a sense of increased value that not only sustains itself, but motivates people to wake up and call in at the very moment you can make reservations.

You hit the nail on the head right there!!! :thumbsup2

We were told changes to LC taking effect in 2011 (sometime) was not aware of any closing for updates. The reason it is popular is where else can one get a normal plain steak in Epcot? If one wants Mexican or Japan or wherever that is fine but to have steak not smothered in some sauce there is nothing but LC. As far as other parks and resorts there are plenty of steak places. :surfweb::surfweb:

What is the basis for this? It seems that brown derby, flying fish, Narcoossee and many other sig dinning have far more seating then Le Cellier current has. If that is the case, why does Le Cellier have to reduce seating? Anyone want to elaborate?

I understand if this is just a choice so people don't feel so packed in, but otherwise I fail to understand why just the status change forces them to remove seats.

Signature Dining suggests fine dining. Restaurants that feature fine dining generally have more space between tables. Casual (chain) restaurants tend to have the tables packed together. The question isn't the number of tables but rather the "density". Le Cellier is a small restaurant.

The answer is yes, it's so customers aren't "packed in" It's so waiters and other customers can move without having to maneuver around tables.

I think there is demand for one credit DDP restaurant that offers Outback quality steak. Maybe Disney should consider such a restaurant near the American

People talk about Le Cellier closing for renovations. It shouldn't take very long to change the carpeting and remove (or even replace tables). It won't take that long if Disney wants to change the lighting or paint. Unless the kitchen is going to change or the restaurant expanded the renovation could probably be done in days (7-10)? Less if they want to rush it.
