I have been following this thread for the past few days and was impressed with the differing opinions that people have of a Disney vacation. Disney is a multi-facited jewel that appeals to different people in different ways.
There were strong views on the "Resort" aspects of WDW along with strong views on the "amusement park" view of Disney. The young family view was vociferous along with the couple view.
All of this just shows the strength of the resort. I know people that never go into the parks when they go down, others are in the parks from opening to closing. Personally, I see Disney as almost a cruise on land. I expect service and I get it. I find the staff to be especially congenial and helpful. I find the restaurants to be very good and also reflect my changing needs and wants. I enjoy going to ESPN to watch sports. I also enjoy going to the Yachtsman. I enjoy going into the parks and I enjoy playing golf down there.
What struck me was the ownership that many felt to their view of what Disney is or should be. As someone that visits a few times a year I find this to be very encouraging. Disney does try to reflect the needs and views of it's customers. They should be commended and encouraged. Let's face it, baby boomers are the new majority. They have money, time and a willingness to spend both. This may be what is driving the new dress code (not to start the thread over).
But for close to 6000 views of one thread in a 2 day period, that's impressive.
Maybe this topic should be brought up again in a more moderated manner.
