After being home from our Christmas week visit, followed this week by a surprise abscess tooth/root canal, Im just getting around to sharing some positive feedback on our BCV accommodations.
We arrived on Sunday, 12/27 promptly at 11am. We drove straight to the Villas parking lot, thinking wed leave our belongings in the car, check in, then head to the Studios until our room was ready. I had done online check in, so I went to the desk and SURPRIZE!! Our room was ready at 11am!!! I thought that was impressive considering the week and that it wasnt even passed checkout time!
We went to go look at the room and decide how to proceed. We were in room 458; pool view, 1br lock off (Id requested dedicated, but no big deal). It was just around the corner from the pool elevator, so it was easy access to the parking lot. We are four able-bodied people, so with a little perspiration and calorie burn, we had everything up to the room in 2 ½ trips.
There was one small balcony off the living room. DH was disappointed that we didnt have a bedroom balcony but temperatures being what they were, we only had one afternoon for maybe 20 minutes, that we sat out to get some sun warmth.
The room had been updated with the newer furnishings, including flat screens in both rooms. I was very pleased about the newer sofa sleepers and how the sofa itself becomes support for the mattress. We havent had a 1br in 3 years but couldnt afford a 2br during Christmas week so I told DDs theyd just have to deal. Id brought a single Aerobed, thinking that a 19 and 15 y/o would not sleep well together for 6 nights. We never used the air mattress and they shared the sleeper without problems (could be that theyre both just older now and like their sleep and the silly giggle games at lights out are a thing of the past).
One update that we noticed was the coffee table that used to hold the pack-n-play no longer lifts for storage. Now in addition to the vacuum and high chair being stored in the closet, the crib now gets stored there as well. We were four grown people (3 being female) HELLO!!! We needed that closet for clothes!!! I moved the high chair and crib to the entry area and tucked them in the corner next to the little table (the crib stood nicely inside the high chair and never got bumped or in the way). I see nothing wrong with housekeeping storing those things there instead of the closet Just a little personal gripe since Ive never had use for either of those items since we purchased DVC. Another personal observation that I would like to see would maybe be a small seat (maybe folding??) for the vanity area. Three females made good use of that vanity and Mom likes to sit to do my makeup and bringing a chair in from the living area can be hard to manage if people are still sleeping. So much time is spent on your feet in WDW, any small amount of time off the feet in the morning helps! I know Id probably get negative feedback from other owners who might not see the need for this. It wouldnt need to be in every room maybe just on request from housekeeping.
The Epcot resort area seemed not extremely busy, although the volume in the parks would indicate otherwise! We rung in the New Year on the bridge and it was so much nicer than actually being IN Epcot for the fireworks! We left the park by 4pm because we were just too frustrated by the crowds. Its on the books that we experienced Disney during Christmas week and most likely will never do it again! Now to endure this cold winter and look towards June and our first visit to Hilton Head!
