We are staying at the Portofino this August for 10 nights. It's our first time. Since we are staying so long, I want to make sure we love the room location. We requested a Bay View room.

Can anyone suggest good rooms to request, please? View and balcony are important to us (I understand that balconies are in short supply). We don't really care how far we are from the elevators. I was thinking of the West Wing, since it's close to the Beach Pool and dock.

Thanks.

I cannot imagine 10 nights at Universal. What are you going to do? Visit other theme parks, too? Maybe Discovery Cove, Disney, etc.?

West wing is the best. You requested Bay View but purchased Garden? Either way the west wing is the best. In the west wing the distance from the elevator is not too bad but the east wing and the villa wing can be a trek.
IMHO the balconies aren't that great. We had one that you couldn't even open the door to access. It was just for looks.

I know it seems like a lot, but we really want to be able to relax this year. My kids love pools and it seems like every trip there is not enough time to fit swimming and relaxing in. Here's what we plan on doing:

2 days at IOA (not necessarily full days). It is more time than needed, but it will be nice to soak in the park instead of rushing from ride to ride.

2 days at US (again, not full days).

1 day at Sea World

1 day at Wet 'n Wild

1 day at Busch Gardens.

The balance will be just for relaxing, swimming, shopping, etc.

.johnvree, we're doing the same thing... plenty of time for us/ioa, at least 1 day (2 if we want) sea world, discovery cove - even busch gardens if we feel like it. I need some serious r/r this year, and I think we'll love just having a nice relaxed vacation. we've got a cabana one day... I just think it's going to be a lovely trip.

johnvree,

There are quite a few bay view rooms with stepout balconies at the the hotel but very few with full size balconies along with table/chairs. All of the full size balconies in the West wing are for suites and I believe the others are deluxe rooms. However, almost all of the bay view rooms on the top floor of the East wing have full balconies so you might want to request that location.
