Portofino construction?

Hi,
Has any one heard about construction going on over at PBH? We were offered a $189 APH rate for a room that would have some plastic covering over the windows. Not sure if I can live with it but I thought I would throw it out here if anyone is interested. My date was for one night 6/28.

We were at the PBH on May 22 for 4 nights. I noticed that they were working on the side near the small pool (the one very far away from the beach and villa pool) opposite the boat dock. The windows were covered with plastic too. It looked like they were painting but I could be wrong.

We noticed it too last Memorial weekend. It looks like they are adding on to that wing. My guess is the adjoining rooms had the plastic for protection from painting the new additions and such. I would be concerned about the noise also. $189 would not be an incentive for me.

The work is repainting of the faux finish on the exterior facing the bay, not construction, and it's on the far end of the East wing. When we got to our room on Memorial Day, we wew surprised to find loud equipment and plastic covering, plus a guy on the patio. With the lifts they are using, it was quite loud. They worked all weekend except Memorial Day.

We had an APH rate and the construction was not disclosed prior to putting us in that room... Generally it takes a lot to make me ask for a room change, but this is one time I did. Which of course took a few hours and was inconvenient. So now they are a t least offering these rooms at a reduced price - I don't like the idea that they tried to stick us with one of them for $249.

The East Wing has been under construction since May. I also think $189 is still high - do you know what the rate is for the same room in a different area?
