How big are the portions of the entrees at the following QS locations? (Just to give you a point of reference-- To me, the Chipotle burrito is a big portion).

- Columbia Harbour House in MK
- Kabuki Cafe at Epcot
- breakfast entree at Port Orleans Riverside food court
- Typhoon Tilly's at Typhoon Lagoon

:thanks:

Everywhere at Disney that I have been have been big portions, we usually share 2 QS meals for our family of 4. sometimes its 1 QS meal for all 4 of us.

I don't specifically remember Columbia House - but I have eaten here, just can't remember what.
Breakfast Entrée at POR I would buy 1 breakfast + one snack credit aka muffin or cereal&milk and we would all pick at it. It was like 3 large pancakes and 2-3 pieces meat, we would each have 1 pancake and piece of meat and then one of us would get the muffin or the cereal/milk.

We just at CHH for the first time last week. DH had the lobster roll and I had the vegetarian lighthouse sandwich. Both came with (DELICIOUS) chips, and both dishes provided a hearty lunch. I'd say that a sandwich and chips at CHH is probably smaller than a chipotle burrito, but it's still a big portion.

Kabuki Cafe is a snack window. There are no entrees here, just shaved ice (which my kids love), sushi and drinks, all for snack credits or paying OOP. Did you mean Katsura Grill?

at Columbia Harbor House they are not huge portions in my opinion, large enough but not huge, I'll get the Lighthouse & chips and eat it all but the crusts & some of the bread, so I guess it could be split for 2 if you are both lighter eaters. Especially if you are going to be snacking again or getting dessert somewhere. So, not as large as chipotle but bigger than a sandwich you make on regular sliced white bread from the store. The shrimp platters or chicken tenders with fries seem pretty large to me but I don't eat those.

The breakfast Platters are big enough to split between 2 , the ones where you get eggs, meat, pancakes, biscuit, potatoes, etc. I know I've split that with another adult.

I never finished a whole chipotle burrito (but haven't been there in years) but usually maybe 3/4 of it, especially not all the shell or rice. Not sure if this helps at all.

POR - the breakfast platters are really big. A nice alternative is the made-to-order omelet. I believe it's a 2-egg omelet plus either potatoes or a biscuit. That would feed one or maybe two if they don't want much to eat. One day I got a kids bounty platter and that was plenty - small mickey waffle, eggs, and potatoes.

Most Disney meals are full size, but my family would never be able to share one counter service meal between us, and there are only 3 of us.

I think everyone would have to be a teeny tiny eater to be able to do that.

AT Katsura Grill and the Food courts, The meals can be split especially if you have a Light eater in your group. I frequently split a lunch with Mom and get an extra side or piece of Fruit with it. It helps us save money for Snacks like Dole Whip and Fresh Mickey Rice Krispie treats.

I guess you have to know how we eat, when I go get lunch here at home, say Red Robin burger place, I will only eat half a burger and half the fries. So at Disney me and DH will split a burger, the kids will also split an adult QS meal and then DH or I am usually finishing up their food because they eat like birds. When I'm walking a ton and out in the heat I seem to be even less hungry.

I've found almost all Disney QS locations to serve a huge amount of food. I sometimes eat an entire Chipotle burrito and then feel super full and gluttonous afterwards. Eating all the shrimp and fries (what I usually get) at CHH usually makes me feel the same. Disney food may be overpriced and in some cases not particularly good but they don't usually serve small portions.

Okay, but that is 2 quick service meals for 4 people. And two of them are kids that "eat like birds."

I don't think it is normal that a family of four can split one quick service. Yes, my husband and I may be able to split a quick service, but like you, we would want to finish up someone else's plate. Or have a snack, later.

I certainly wouldn't tell people to expect to be able to split one meal between 4 people.

I don't think it's so uncommon. Our family of 4 eats similarly to what rsagusti posted...although we haven't done WDW yet, I expect them to be typically large American-sized portions. When we are skiing with the kids we get 2 apps for lunch (i.e. nachos and a veggies with hummus platter) and share. It's plenty for us and we often leave some. My kids don't eat like birds...especially not after skiing, but portion sizes are insanely large in most tourist/fast food destinations IMO.

Servings are normal size. It could be that two people could share. But they aren't insanely large.

Here is, if I can figure out how to attach it, a picture of a table service breakfast. (If not you have to just go by my description) It included 4 waffles and a choice of meat, which ended up being two pieces of sausage. Each waffle was the size of my palm. Splitting that 4 ways would mean one small waffle and 1/2 a piece of sausage for each person.

For us? That wouldn't be enough.

Okay, not clue how to attach a picture that is located on my computer.

We could do an entrée and an extra side between myself and my husband. So, like at CHH, a sandwich, the chips, and some broccoli or something. But, we never do, usually, because I don't eat meat the majority of the time, and he does. But, when the stars align, that is plenty of chow for us. My kids, on the other hand, are growing tweenagers who eat like I have never fed them.

You won't have a problem splitting QS meals if you are like me & don't have a big appetite while walking around in the sun & heat all day & night. The only time my friend & I found that one meal was not enough was when we ordered the steak for lunch at San Angel TS. We were both still hungry after that meal. Besides, if you get hungry not long after eating, you can always split most snacks like a pretzel or a cupcake & be satisfied after that. :)

Most QS meals I'd say our group of 3 adults and 2 kids would get 2 adult and one kids meal.

I meant to ask how big are the sushi sold at Kabuki Cafe... Snack credits for sushi.. Too good to be true, especially at Mouseland.

I gave the example of us sharing one QS and that was in relation to breakfast and that was with 1 additional 'snack' We could easily be satisfied with 1 waffle each and splitting whatever meat was given. I can easily pass on meat. Anyway this is just how we stretch our dining credits. we never purchase additional food so the 1 QS 1 TS 1 snack for each of us more than allows us to eat OUR normal portion sizes when we split them up between us. we don't buy "kids" meals for QS so that helps as well. When we eat out at a restaurant we almost always have the kids eat from our plates and we have been known to order 1 entrée plus the salad and share between the whole family. Portions these days are ridiculous and Americans in general eat too much. When I'm at home I can usually make an entire dinner with just 1/2 lb of meat, sometimes less (for all 4 of us)

Oh and one QS that sticks out in my mind is Fairfax Fare at Hollywood Studios. the portions are ginormous and we definitely share 1 meal for all 4 of us, its a half of a chicken plus spare ribs, plus beans and corn on the cob, for $18, if you are on the DP then dessert too, its so much food.

To bring in some very minimal science...

I think you'd have to have an extremely low basal metabolic rate to be able to split between that many people. For example, the braised pork at Be Our Guest for lunch is 478 calories; roast beef sandwich around 700. For a 5'4 115 pound adult female, average intake to keep at that weight without ANY physical activity at all is 1200-1300 calories. Adding in walking in the parks...I can't see splitting it that many ways, especially with someone who was taller/weighed more, for the average adult.

Calorie intake isn't an ideal measure, but I think it gives an estimate of how hungry the "average" person would be. The meals with more food (like four waffles) would obviously be splittable, but I don't know that the same rationale would apply to every QS in the parks.

I have never finished a chipotle burrito, but I can get close to finishing many QS. Similar to what cavepig said above.

Personally, I would plan to split between two people at first, then see how you feel as you go. Looking at pictures of food at the locations you listed might also help you get a better idea.
