Portion sizes? Sharing Meals...

My DH & I tend to share entrees when we eat out, or if we can't make a meal out of an appetizer. It's not that we're diet obsessed - we just prefer to eat smaller portions of more things, rather than large portions of one or two things. :lmao: Anyway, what are the portion sizes like at the resort eateries? For example, the Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe, how many slices is an entree, and how substantial are the slices? Is there a problem with sharing a meal? (We're happy to pay a plate sharing charge.)

We plan to eat at: Artist Point, Kona Cafe, Whispering Canyon, and some undecided places in and near FW/WL. (I'd love suggestions!)

The Tonga Toast can easily be shared. It's like a block of french toast, as it's two pieces stuffed with bananas then deep fried. You get either two pieces of bacon or two sausage links on the side. I think it's huge and would prefer to share it if I could.

You won't be charged for splitting the breakfast.

In general the portions have gotten smaller in the last 2 years. There are still a few places that the portions are large. We used to always share entres but that is not possible anymore for us and we don't eat large meals. You could probably get an appetizer and an entre to share or an entre and a dessert.

If you are paying OOP it is fine to share but if you are on the DDP sharing is not permitted.

In a nut shell, I'm just too cheap to pay Disney's prices for TS dining, let alone a 18% + tip. We never do the dining plan, we share meals as stated and Disney meals are huge, easily satisify a normal persons appetite. We share the food courts hamburger and fries, we get to eat at more places since we both have smaller portions or can have some desserts thru out the day. Buffets aren't included in sharing but we do them, only ones we do do, once for breakfast and once for dinner in a trip and they are all at FW, Trails End. Disney has never been about the food for us, we don't go there for the dining but the attractions and ambiance.
