HELLO,
My DD has been diagnosed with asthma. She's on pulmicort, so I need a compressor nebulizer. Any suggestions on a battery operated one for our trip? Thanks.

We don't have a battery operated one but do have a small electric one that we take with us. It is the same one that we use at home. somewhere I saw some addresses/phone numbers for places that have medical rentals. Maybe someone else will have those numbers. Good luck.

Thanks. My real concern is the plane ride. Our current one needs to be plugged in to operate. I would also like one for soccer games, camping, etc.. Thanks for the quick reply.

Megan didn't have any trouble on the airplane. Does your DD also have an inhauler? That might be all you need on the plane.

Katie is just 3. She's not old enough to use a rescue inhaler effectively. That's why we need the neb.

There are some great portable nebs out there. $80 to $190 and most insurance will cover a portable for a 3yo who can't use an inhaler. Personally, I would get one with disposable batteries and I've seen one for about $85, but I can never remember the names. They easily fit in a purse.

You don't need an ultrasonic. They are hundreds of dollars more.

Check with your local respiratory equipment supply companies like Apria or Lincare.

Check with the airline you are flying with - lots of them have portable nebulisers on board as a matter of course. We fly from England with Virgin Atlantic and they are aware that I, DH and DS all suffer with asthma. Each time I ring their special needs department I am asked whether we require a nebuliser. Worth checking.

Thank you for the replies. I called NWA and they do have a nebulizer on board. I think I will still get a portable one, so I can have one with me in the parks-and not have to go to fist aide. Thanks again.
