We are flying, and so I thought I would get a portable DVD player to watch movies on the plane. DH uses his laptop, so we can't use that. Anyway I got one yeaterday at Target for $130 for a 5" I thought that was a good price. Anyone know how I can get the batteries to last longer or adapter for the airplane?(is there such a thing?) Or should I just get a second set? :sunny:

best buy has an external battery ....think it is made by eveready....it was made specifically as an add on to many DVD players......

last i costed it ....it was 99$.....

Check with the manufactuer and you may be able to get an additional battery. We have flown from Albany to Vegas and Albany to Orlando and ever only needed the one battery. I just would bring extra things to entertain my DD, and she would get a movie and show out of the DVD player. I just wouldn't rely on the DVD player as the sole source of entertainment, and I can't justify spending as much on a battery as I would the player. IMO

A few airlines offer a place to plug-in electronics in the armrest (usually only in business or 1st class but we found it in coach on many AirBus planes) but it requires a special adapter to fit the air plug.

I too just got a portable DVD player and used it last trip. Since you're only in the air for 2.5-3 hours, it should last. I still haven't gotten thru anything over 2 hours since you can't turn on electronics until about 15 min. into the flight and the same for landing.

For the flight home, just recharge it in your hotel room before leaving and you're good to go!!!

My total travel time is 5 hours (2 flights plus layover). But I thought about it...most of the kids movies are 80 minutes. And like a previous poster said, I will have other activities planned-coloring books, cards, homework, and gameboys. So they will not be totally relying on the Movies. I decided to get one because of a 3 hour (on top of a 2 hr lay over) delay on our flight last year in Chicago, and my friend who just got back Sunday 24 hours late due to flight problems too. We are not flying through Chicago this year and we are not on the last flight, so I am hoping for better results this year. :wave2:

I don't know if any of you have Kaufmann's stores by you but last week I bought 2 portable DVD players - 5 inch size for $80 each - regular price $249 - my daughter and I used one on a drive over to my moms for the weekend - 2 hours long and loved it....nice picture and good volume.... now each child can have their own and there will be no fighting over what movie to watch

If you have a layover/delay you can charge it in the airport! I love ours and it lasts about 2 hours or so but its great in the hotel room, just plug it into the TV-
