Portable Camping Fire Pit

we just got one at walmart for 45 bucks in the outdoor garden section...i have no idea what the brand was...my concerns were 1) will it hold wood and let it burn 2) will it not burn the woods around me and not get smokey bear up my tailpipe? 3) can i set marshmellows on fire with it?

other than that, I think that about covered it...if you have other specific questions, someone will be along with more information and less snarkiness than me...;)

The wife and I were in camping world today, Holding hands and making googly eyes at each other :rotfl2: There was a gas "camp fire" you could hook up to a propane take for around $130. Hun I thought, the wife didn't buy into it.

This may be something of interest.

We bought a Coleman portable fire pit from Camping World a couple of years ago. It works great & we really like it.

It was just like this one from Walmart (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-Packaway-Portable-Fire-Pit-and-Grill/11377336?sourceid=1500000000000003260350&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=11377336), but we only paid about $80. Camping World doesn't seem to carry this exact same one anymore. Hope this helps!

I have one of those, brand I have is something like Lil' Red Campfire. From my understanding would not be 'legal' at FW as there is no screen over the fire.
Nice little fire though, can empty a 20 Lb tank pretty fast if you crank it up.

We just got a brand-spanking new firepit this past weekend - didn't cost a penny! I don't have a pic, but it looks very much like this...

And yes, that's a washing machine tub. They make super fire pits and the flames look really pretty through the holes. ;)

And FREE! And a typical round camping grate fits on top just great if you want to throw a few steaks over the fire.

I have posted this gem before, but since we are discussing fire pits, I thought it might be helpful to review an official document from the Fort which clearly explains the official policies regarding all things fire:

That clears things up nicely, wouldn't you say?

This says gas campfires are a no-no. But, I camped with some friends at the Fort once who had one, and the castmember in charge of driving around the loops and harassing the campers actually stopped and admired it. It was cold on that trip, and that thing burned through a 20 lb propane tank a night. Not very practical.

Thank you all for your responses! That washing machine tub is very interesting. I have never heard of that...creative idea!
