Port testing changing to antigen-3/26

Nope still a deal breaker for us, I am not about to pack up 3 kids and all that stuff to drive to port and possibly test positive and have upset kids after they see the ship and all.

This. I don’t understand why people are okay with testing at the port. I’ll bite my tongue before I say anything more…

I just got my pre-trip email and it says anyone with a positive test will take a second test, so I’m cautiously optimistic that means San Diego is doing the antigen tests!

Same here! I’m planning to call Inspire on Thursday, after the next cruise leaves, to see if they can tell me what kind of testing it will be on Sunday.

For those wondering - just emailed about Disney Magic April 11 from Miami:

"Hello,

It would be an antigen, +PCR follow-up if necessary
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to reach back out ."

I wonder if Inspire Diagnostics will be doing the testing on the Canadian side as well? It looks like Vancouver is the only port we don’t have confirmation of switching to antigen testing soon…

I prefer the testing at the port. Testing a few days ahead (while it’s becoming the norm in many places) is basically useless. I am happy about the switch to Antigen and the 2nd test if positive since it does seem like many people were getting false positives due to not realizing they had recently had and recovered from Covid. There will still obviously be some people that get missed, but hopefully not enough to cause an outbreak. I totally get the concerns about stress level, but for me keeping my family healthy is more important than any vacation no matter how greatly anticipated

And testing at the port is free to us. Testing on our own is very much not free in many places.
