Could any of you offer advice to this new DISer? CHECK IT OUT

I don't know too much about POR and I'd appreciate your help.

Hey there fello Texan...........Just drove through your city last week coming back from the Wilderness Lodge. I, also, would like to know more about Port Orleans. We are thinking about a quick week there this spring. Just wanted to say "hi" to you. Do you make the drive or fly? We ahve always flown before but drove it this time and irt was not bad at all......

The post I linked here was asking about most romantic building. I just don't know anything about POR so I couldn't help them out.

have stayed at po in 2000. seems to be the smallest of the resorts but is great if you have children easy to keep up
the rooms are not extremely large but very adequate
nice boat ride to downtown disney. pool area fun. and food was great for families. my favorite for my family and we have stayed in several. small size gives peace and quiet at the end of long days

Shea, I think you are thinking about PO-FQ, which is the smallest moderate resort. PO-R has about double the amount of rooms.

As for most romantic, I would have to agree that Alligator Bayou was more romantic for us, than the mansions. More secluded feeling, and the individual buildings aren't as big. We especially enjoyed staying in a water view room in building 14. Every morning we could watch the baby ducks and rabbits frolicking, but of course, that isn't guaranteed, as they aren't on the payroll...lol!

We have stayed at Magnolia Terrace, waterview room and Alligator Bayou, water view, and Alligator Bayou wins... hands down!

There is no other place to stay for my DH & I. We LOVE Dixie Landings and have stayed there for many years now. It got changed to Port Orleans Riverside for Politically Correct Reasons.

It is very romantic cause there are a lot of rambling paths thru lush tree lined areas. The rooms are a nice size and each section has a private pool.

Like the FoodCourt for morning breakfast and have 2 sets of mugs that we trek back and forth with (new logo and old logo). That's the only way to go if you plan on going back again.

Going there and taking a Disney Cruise is the one thing that look forward to each year. Especially since we try and go around our wedding anniversary!

Go - Enjoy - Have Fun - Create Memories - Life dosen't let you go back and do things over!

My DH and I spent our honeymoon at PO-R when it was Dixie Landings and LOVED it! We are going back with kids in March and are trying PO-FQ.

CAN'T WAIT!!!

We stayed there last month. It's my favorite resort. We were there twice in December, once in Alligator Bayou and once in the Mansions.

Here are links to my pictures of both sections:

The Mansions

Alligator Bayou

We love this resort, and I can't wait to go back next December!
